| My maiden name is Lake, and I was thinking of using Lachlan for a boy or Locklyn for a girl since the name means lake in Scottish. Thought? |
| Wouldn't do Locklyn. Lackland is a good name, other parents might think of the guy from the Wiggles. |
| If you really want to honor your surname, just use Lake for a girl not a misspelled, invented feminization of a male name that sort of references your surname (Lachlan means land of the lakes, not Lake. Locklyn means nothing at all). |
Autocorrect (which could be a problem) menat Lachlan |
| I'd just make their middle name Lake whether you crank out a boy or girl. |
| I think Lake is a lovely middle name for either boy or girl. |
| I love PPs' suggestion of Lake as a middle name for either! |
Me too. I know a baby Lachlan and most peoples' reaction to the name is like "Oh! Um, how nice!" |
| Oh honey, no. |
|
Lachlan is nice for a boy (and the meaning is close enough, geez) and I like Lake for a girl.
I do like mom's maiden name for Middle, so Lake works out for a boy and a girl. |
| I'd say no to both. Suggestion of Lake as a middle name is good. |
|
Lake as a middle name is perfect.
Lachlan is OK. Locklyn is terrible. Lake or even Laken is fine as a first name. |
| Hard no to Locklyn. |
| Locklyn is a tragedeigh. Agree with PPs that the best idea is to name either gender Lake as a middle name. |
| Vince Vaughn has a Locklyn. |
