We are trying to plan a "last minute" spring break vacation in Phoneix. Right before the pandemic we did a similar trip, stayed at Arizona Biltmore for maybe $650 a night and it was lovely. Now I am looking and all the major nice resorts (Hyatt, JW, Omni, Hilton) are at least $950 a night and most well into the $1k range. It seems like my only option is a Hampton Inn or Embassy Suites type place.
Does anyone have a mid-range hotel to recommend? The places I did find with reasonable rates like Hilton Scottsdale and Hilton Tapatio have terrible reviews once you go on tripadvisor. |
| What dates are you trying to book? I live in Scottsdale and this is not the time to try and get a room! We have Barrett Jackson leading right into WMPO and then spring training so resort prices are at their highest. |
| Try VRBO. |
| Check Costco Travel. We just bought a weekend package for March at the Phoenician, including car and nonstop flights, for $3k total. They have some cheaper options too. |
| You’re probably going during spring training. |
+1 I have to travel for work to phoenix almost every march and it’s always during spring training. I think I once spent $350 on a Best Western. |
| People have lots of recommendations that you could also easily find yourself IF there were available rooms. Spring break is in 2 months, you missed the boat on those resorts. |
I don’t know what 2/3 of those things are. |
| Those prices for March in Phoenix sound about right compared to 2021. It’s way more expensive now. I have to be there often and March is by far the most expensive. I’m kicking myself because I have to be there 2 different weekends and didn’t make early reservations. |
| This is just what has happened to hotel prices since the pandemic. We are staying a couple nights at the Hyatt on points and a few nights at one of the Scottsdale Embassy Suites. I think it’s $350 or so. We picked the one on the golf course with better reviews. |

Try this spot: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/phxwp-sheraton-grand-at-wild-horse-pass/overview/?scid=f2ae0541-1279-4f24-b197-a979c79310b0.
We were able to get a room at the "pricey" point vs "insane" point last year over spring break. It's south of Phoenix slightly which i think is part of the discount but the resort was very nice. |
This is OP. So funny you recommended this because that is where we ended up booking. Also considered the Embassy Suites on the golf course that another poster recommended. |

Spring break is tough in the PHX area. If you have kids maybe Hilton at the Peak or AZ Grand?
Could also try Tucson, which I’m more familiar with (and is less crowded during spring break) - RC Dove Mountain or Marriott Star Pass maybe. Possibly La Paloma, Ventana Canyon, Hacienda del Sol. |
NVM I see you found somewhere- good choice |
OP: Are you willing to share the price you paid ? TIA |
