Peloton Treadmill for speed/conditioning for teen athletes

Does anyone's 12-15-year-olds use Peloton for strength and conditioning workouts? I've been driving my kid to a franchise for speed and strength training, spending a lot of time on the commute, and it's expensive. Why not just have him do a 20-30 minute HIT run plus some bodyweight strength classes a couple of times a week? I feel like the various studios that all his teammates are using and we've tried are overrated and he can do the same thing at home and save time and money.

My kids use our treadmill. It's not Peloton but the function is the same. I have a workout app that they use in conjunction with the run.

Much better option

Just know that running on a treadmill is different than running on a track/road/trail. The belt is doing some of the work for you. But as long as the teen is doing plenty of training outside or on an actual track, a treadmill is a great augmentation.

Also the strength training with Peloton, they are very good. What someone gets out of them is how much they put into them. Basically, the person has to be self-motivated, not someone who needs to be motivated by peers training in person with them and a coach in person telling them to not slack off.

My boys (10 and 13) do plyos and strength workouts on their own at home (I created the workout). Abt twice a week. I would prefer they go to a gym/studio but I just can’t justify the addl commute and expense.

My boys have done HIIT workouts on their own on our treadmill and that’s fine for us as running is not their primary sport. If it were, theyd be on a track or outside more.

OP here. DS does not run as a primary sport but wants to get faster for other sports. One of DS's teammates drives 40 minutes a couple of times weekly to work with a specific trainer at his gym - we tried it and it seems like madness to me, especially when we are already driving so much for team practices. The Peloton strength workouts and HIT runs seem close enough to what the trainer does.

My teen likes those workouts sometimes, but the dumbbells don’t do it for real strength training. After puberty he needed the equipment and spotting at the gym.

My 17yo son does the HCOTF strength program that uses the Peloton workouts and has seen awesome results!

I guess he could see more results at the gym, but this has been cheap, convenient and effective.
