If your student learned intro programming before high school, beyond the level of AP CS Principles, and your student went on to AP CS A or Programming 3 in high school, did your student take an AP CS Principles AP classes or standalone exam?
(Is it even possible to do the exam standalone, since it includes an in-class 9 hour performance task?) https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/ap-computer-science-principles-course-and-exam-description.pdf |

In general, when a course is on UMD's AP credit list as "lower level elective", not for any class or major, and the student is planning to take a higher level AP or DE or IB class in the same subject, I don't think the lower level AP is helpful for college credit or admissions.

No, the CS principles exam counts for nothing if you cs programming and get a good score.
