Why do they make footie zipped PJs up to 4t?

Anonymous
DD is a petite 4-year-old and can still fit into 3T and I am counting down the days till she grows out or 3R&4T so we don’t have to deal with these footie zip up pajamas.

They were manageable when she was a baby and toddler but post-potty training they are awful.

Yet she’s obsessed and refuses to wear anything other than her footie zip up pajamas to bed.

She asks for more for birthdays and holidays and grandparent oblige.

I’ve tried hiding them. I’ve tried turning up the temp at night in hopes she gets too hot and sleeps in the cute short & t-shirt sets I’ve gotten her.

Nope. Footies every night. Constant potty issues. Either she can’t get out of them on her own, can’t get out of them fast enough, or half ass gets the bottom off and pees all over the legs (or they fall into the toilet). It’s like 2-3 nights a week.

I wish they stopped making them at 2T, because they are such a pain.

Burn them. Problem solved.

My 2 year old wore a 4T. Not every kid is in the 50th percentile.

Tell her if she wants to wear them she needs a night diaper in case of an accident. I don’t see the harm in letting her have them until she outgrows them.

Or you can parent your 4 year old and say no. We quit them at 2 when we were potty trwining.

So stop buying them? Bad news, they make them all the way through adult sizes…if they are that horrible you just have to donate the ones you have and say they are gone, pick something else. It’s going to be a really long 18 years otherwise.

And no, we aren’t going to do pull-ups or restrict water before bed. She has no issues getting up to use the restroom and often needs water by her bedside for dry throat.

I just wish she’d wear normal pajamas.

So…just throw them away and get her normal pajamas? I’m failing to understand how this is the fault of Big Pajama when you control the pajamas in your house.

By his second birthday, DS fit into 4T. He was not ready to toilet train. Learn to say no and set boundaries.

Seriously, just get rid of them. If the grandparents or other people give them to her, politely accept and donate them. People are right, the only other choice is letting her wear a night pull-up, and you’ve said you’re not willing to do that. So just explain to her “you’re not getting the sleep you need because of the footie pajamas, so it’s time to get rid of them”. She’ll be pissed for a couple nights and this will be done.

Yep. I would also just tell grandparents when DD isn’t around that the footie PJs aren’t working for you anymore, and to just ignore that specific request from DD.

If she’s having potty accidents what is wrong with having her wear a night diaper?
