If you let your dog sit at the window and bark the entire day...why?

Anonymous
There are a couple houses in my neighborhood where the dog(s) has access to a sofa at the front window (with no curtains) and barks ALL.DAY.LONG. At every squirrel, bird, person, etc. I have a dog who will occasionally bark when someone comes to the front door, so we have our furniture positioned such that he can't sit up at the window. How do people who let their dogs bark all day not lose their minds?

Maybe upgrade your windows?

I couldn’t live with a dog like that, but some people are willing to tolerate it because it makes intruders less likely. Maybe they’re able to tune it out?

Well it's a good thing you are a magical dog whisperer who can not "allow" your dog to bark.

This forum. I swear.

Lazy dog owners gonna be lazy.

Because it makes my pet happy to look out the window. And I work out of the house.

Get some noise cancelling headphones or better windows -- do the leaf blower people drive you crazy as well? And the landscapers mowing lawns?

the obvious answer is they're probably not there all day to hear it bark so it doesn't bother them

Because the dog is being a dog inside it’s own home.
If the dog was left out to bark in a yard all day you’d have more of a leg to stand on.

+1. And I don’t have a dog or particularly like them.

It's my home and it's quite simply, none of your business what my dog does inside my house. Now if you want to pick up my mortgage payment, taxes, etc. perhaps we could have a conversation. Incidentally, did you know the number one deterrent to a break in is a barking dog? Yeh, not going to tell my dog to be quiet for you or anyone else. Get some noise cancelling headphones. My dog hates people like you.

Mine barks the entire time we are not home. I cannot take the dog everywhere so on the rare occasion we have to go out without her, we crate her and not much we can do.

Oh yeh this is fun, I have a neighbor with a new baby who goes to bed at 6! I get home at 7 and let me dog out to well, do what dogs do. If my dog barks just once, the new father comes over insisting that the neighborhood has to be perfectly quiet for his perfect little family. Happens every single evening. I have never slammed a door in anyones face until tonight. Do not care.

My neighbors dog howls, yes howls whenever they aren't home. She is constantly apologizing but I honestly don't mine. Have gotten use to it and find it rather amusing.

How dare they allow their dogs to look out windows. There must be a law against this!
