Swim Parents what are the FAST pools?

Anonymous

I was thinking, that I have noticed over the years that certain pools seem fast and others not so much. Do clubs take that into account when holding qualifiers or championships? What has been your experience with which pools are fast or slow?

My kids would tell you the PWSC at Colgin High School is a fast pool to swim in and they have some of their best times.

I know our club swimmers HATE George Mason and feel it is a slow pool. But a lot of big meets are held there. I just think it is a junky pool.

Any pool that has a diving well as part of the course will be slower because of the deeper water.

I thought it was the opposite. Deeper water = faster because of less churned water coming back off the bottom. no?

So yes and no. Like goldilocks, it cannot be too shallow or too deep.
