Kids baseball pants - help!

Anonymous
We live overseas and will be in the DC/VA area for the holidays. My tall, thin 12 year old and average height, a little husky 10 year old play in a local baseball league where we live. They need new pants for the Spring. It seems that many of the brick and mortar stores where we could go try things on in the area have closed. Is that right? What websites should I look at? I guess I gotta measure the kids to order online? Any tips welcome. I didnt grow up with baseball myself, so am a bit lost.

What is your 12 year old’s height and weight? I also have a 12 year old but he’s not thin- but I can try to help with some guesstimates.

Dicks usually stocks baseball pants year round.

Ditto another poster- if you give height and weights I can probably help you estimate. I have an 11yo and 13yo who play.

Thank you so much. 10 yo with 29 inch waist and 12 year old with 25 inch waist. I guess Ill get the youth xlarge for the 10 year old and large for 12 year old. Maybe they switch... I measured the inseam for the 12 year old as 31 inches, but the 10 year old is only 24. Maybe I messed it up. I'll order from Anazon and either return or try Dick's if what we receive doesnt fit.

Mizuno or Under Armour for your 12 yo (the Mizuno is more expensive).

Adidas or Nike for your younger son.

Really only waist size matters - you get what you get when it comes to length. There will be boys on the field with pants puddled over their cleats and boys with cuffs three inches above their ankles. So I’d just order s/m/l/xl based on what size kid usually wears, waist wise.

My son is 16 and has been playing since he was 4. Turns out he doesn’t care about brand or fit so much as he cares about the texture of the waistband - he likes wide with elastic. He can’t even explain what it is he likes, and you never know till he tries them on if they have the right waist. Drives me bonkers. Good luck! Generally he’s been happy with Under Armor and Nike.
