My 6th grader is currently at AAP center elementary. We started thinking about next year, since our AAP MS is a bit too far compared to our base MS (which is right next to our house).
We chose the AAP center elementary because of Level IV services (which our base school did not really offer). But is there any real benefit going to a AAP MS compared to a base MS? |

Totally depends on the schools you are deciding between.
The benefit of the AAP school will come in critical mass for clubs and activities. There will be math teams and science Olympiad and kids who want to start logic puzzle club during advisory. The base school might have those too, depending on the make up of the student body. Or they might only have staff for math help club instead of math team. The center will certainly have 8th grade geometry classes, likely algebra 2 as well. The base school May require you to go to the high school or take it online depending on numbers (or there might be plenty of kids and they’ll offer a full section of it) Both schools will offer the full spectrum of honors classes, but the center will restrict some to aap only, while the base school will be fully open enrollment. Again, at some schools it’s no issue, at other schools anyone who gets a 400 on an SOL is encouraged to take honors and at other schools there is no gen Ed option for some classes, everyone is automatically in honors. Without knowing the two schools it’s hard to say. |
| NP - Rocky (center) vs Stone (local) opinions? Rocky yes? |
If you want TJ, stay at Stone. |
Our base is Stone. DD started at Rocky this year. She has friends with older siblings that have gone through Stone, and all the parents chose to send their kids to Rocky. From what I hear, Rocky is much better run. My neighbor tells me that the principal at Stone has a background running prisons, but I haven’t checked that. |
| Rocky Run hands down. They also have an awesome and efficient kiss n ride!! |
Doesn't Rocky have a higher admit %? |

dont bring TJ into this decision.
RRMS is a great school. I would go there. |
