Can someone detail the connection between rescues and puppy mills for me?

I don’t understand your acronyms.

Basically, rescues will acquire dogs that originated in puppy mills in three ways.

1. Taking in dogs seized by the humane society when mills are shut down or mills dump dogs.
2. Purchasing dogs through auctions supplied by puppy mills.
3. Pulling dogs from shelters that were relinquished by owners who acquired them through puppy mills.

The humane society did a research project a few years ago and found that only 10% of dogs originated from a breeder. The term breeder encompassed any type so you have reputable breeders, puppy mills and backyard breeders. The vast majority of dogs in shelters originated from people who acquired the dg from a friend, family member etc and strays with unknown origins.

Those aren't acronyms, that's a type of text/font style signifying sarcasm. Technically, it's "mocking text" it originated from a SpongeBob Meme, so it's also called SpongeBob Mocking text.

(It says "adopt don't shop")

Not the op, but my rather self-righteous niece starts in on adoption as the only option when my kids bring up maybe getting a dog in the future. That’s not how we’ll go if we decide to get a dog, which apparently horrifies her. People have a lot of opinions as to where other people get their dogs.

Thank you!!

Also, I have no argument plans. It’s just these activists pop up unexpectedly (and aggressively) now and again, and I’ve found myself without the rescue-to-puppy mill details I’d like to have.

Some of the rescue groups seem very shady to me and I'd worry with kids getting a rescue if you don't have a lot of dog experience and they have behavioral issues. We went to a breeder as we wanted a no shed, dog and very glad we did.

I get tired of the self-righteous animal advocates as they care far less about people and often are not fostering/adopting kids who need homes.

Also, thanks for the link, P-PP. I will check it out.

Buy from a breeder and save yourself the grief. Rescues buy from puppy mills to save them. Then they pass them on to you. $250 in the pocket. To save more puppy mill puppies.
