I took our 16 month old cat to the vet today, and they are a teeny 6lbs 12 ounces. The belly fluff makes her look bigger than she is, but I didn't realize she was so petite as an adult! She was spayed at 2 months - does that affect adult growth?
How much does your cat(s) weigh? |
| 6lbs 12oz is within the normal range for an adult cat even though it is on the small side. If she has good body condition, it is fine. One of my guys is around 7lbs, he's just a small cat. |
| One is around 7 the other is 15+ |
| My beast is 15+ lbs. |
|
My cat is 12 pounds, which makes her officially obese for her size. I’m mortified every time I take her to the vet because it looks as if I don’t care about her, but we have tried everything to get her to lose weight. She’s a snuggly couch potato and hates exercise and the outdoors.

| Definitely a megachonker, but not quite into “Oh Lawd, he comin’” territory. |
| 7, and she crept toward 8 once and the vet made us cat back the food. She is meant to be a small cat. |

At 6 months old our cat weighed 6 lbs
At 8 years old she weighs 15 lbs She should be under 12 lbs. She is fat. |

Three cats we adopted already neutered and a year old. Each a somewhat different build.
Two from same litter: One cat 8.6 lbs and longer and lanky. One cat 7.3 lbs smaller in all ways. Former cat was far bigger than our current cats and weighted 14 lbs. vet told us cat should have been ~12. |
| 18.5. He's a chonk. |
| Our cat is overweight at 14 and will not shut up when he wants food. |
|
7-8lbs, both. The Maine Coon I left with my parents is more about 16lbs but incredibly active and muscular-not fat. Too much weight is really bad for their joints, hearts, etc.
We weigh out the food once a week or so just so we don't overfeed because it doesn't look like a lot to us. If we hit over 8lbs, they are overweight and the DVMs are very pointed though still tactful about it. If your cats are overweight or constantly harassing for more food, switch to a higher protein food (like Dr.Elsey''s) or supplement with supplement (like Stella & Chewy's). You can also add water/tuna water to help keep them hydrated and feel full. Also, check their thyroids and for diabetes. |
| Mine is 13ish and we get comments on it each visit. She's definitely chunky, but she's also "big-boned." I think her main issue is lack of exercise vs. food. She needs more steps in her day. |
| Mine are both 11-12lbs (same litter, same build); according to the vet they're supposed to be about 10lbs -- they're medium sized cats. I have keep them on a diet and it's a pain because unless they're overfed, they eat so quickly they make themselves throw up. |

18lbs. I can’t even believe we have a cat that weighs that much.
I estimate his body length is 5-6 inches longer than the cats we had previously. |
