We’re stuck. Daniel or James?
Three syllable last name of Italian origin but we aren’t connected to Italian heritage. |
| James is more classic American |
| I've never met a daniel I liked. They all seem whiny. |
| James is more classic but there are 84,000 of them in every elementary school. Daniel is popular but not as many around as James. |
I never met a Daniel I didn’t like! All very sexy and athletic! |
I don’t think there is one James in DD’s entire preschool. But yeah, I’m guessing OP knows both are perennial top names. |
| James would sound better with an Italian last name IMO. |
Except Daniel the Tiger is the worst |
That must be an anomaly! James is ranked as the popular male name over the last 100 years, and the lowest it's ever been on the SSA list of baby names is 19! |
| Do you like Dan or Jim because people will definitely shorten the name? |
Sexy if you like the younger brother type. |
|
I think I know more young James’ than Daniels, but I wouldn’t say either one is overused around here.
Think about inevitable nicknames- Jim/Jimmy/Jamie, vs. Dan/Danny. |
| Daniel for sure! |
|
I have a James (so I'm biased) and he's one of 4 or 5 in his whole elementary school (no others in his grade). I can't think of any Daniels in his school at all. (The only boy name that there are multiples per grade is Max.)
No one ever shortens his name either. Not so say it will never happen, but it's not automatic like some names seems to be. I think the one syllable thing cuts some of it off. |
+1 Daniel |
