I was under the assumption, based on folks I've talked to, that all the teams were created equally? |
Not at all. Team 1 is the top team, Team 2 is 2nd best, and so on. Team 1 plays in the top bracket of the tournament. |
There are different brackets? |
Yes, different brackets. And for all those saying stuff was rigged, tell your girls to go play hard and win it all. Last year, all three teams spoke for themselves (top 2 teams won brackets and third team was a goal away from the championship game in pouring rain). They all competed really well against a lot of states that only had 1 team that practiced together all year. |
I agree! They said they were going to have 3 teams and now there are 5. If we knew we would be forced to pay/play for a lower team, we probably would have declined to tryout. We know of at least 3 families from top teams who have declined with penalties. Unless they can guarantee future tryouts will only support 3 teams, we would not encourage anyone to tryout next year. |
Was the vibe this negative last year? |
BuT tHeY wON tHEiR BrACkTEt!!! Don’t present facts to this group with a small set of players favored by coaches who shouldn’t be out there. |
I heard all the teams they competed against in the top bracket were pretty weak. So, of course they would win. |
You are my new best friend. Let’s pick a specialty cocktail each and meet up. |
|
No and they won’t. They never do. You Pl only be able to figure it out if there are photos or if they win the championship. The utter lack of transparency is a main reason school girls has always been known as a purely political endeavor. |
In an alternate reality it would be a cool process if they “evaluated” the initial pool of players to get down to the number of players they need. Then let the coaches who are coaching the teams choose their teams in order. Ie team one goes first then team two etc. then at the first or second practice you have a tournament among the teams to sort out which team is best and the order of finish in your mini tournament determines which teams plays in which bracket at the school girl tournament. |
This is a great point. Because the rosters are not public, the people in charge have no fear of being called out for the political nature of the process. The lack of transparency and confusing results make this tryout one to skip. |
Is this even a serious question? How has your child gotten this far?? |
I thought it was all one big tourney too. Glad weak teams will play other weak teams. |
