Yes, the burden is one billion dollars, around $2200 for each and every Orange and Osceola County resident.

Plus the surrounding localities would have to pick up the of cost of first responder services, utility infrastructure, etc. that Disney currently pays for.
The surrounding localities would receive the increased tax revenue that Disney would have to pay for losing the many tax breaks they currently receive.
No Disney already pays taxes.

Go woke and go broke is going to be DeSantis' presidential rallying cry.
What a petulant thug De Santis is—taking a page right out of Trump’s playbook by punishing those who cross him. It sure gets his face and name in the news…which is exactly the point.

Literally every Dem candidate for the midterm elections should be hammering this point. DeSamtus cleverly has this not kicking in u til 2025 but the numbers are there and should be broadcasted far and wide.

My guess is it is more in retaliation for their completely hypocritical position. If they had this stance for years and were consistent with their their support for the gay community, my guess is this wouldn't be happening. However, they continue to do business with and even expand business into countries that have banned gay marriage and even condemn gays to death, so they are really just going after DeSantis, who in turn is fighting back.
The matter is not complicated. DeSantis is not an idiot - you may not like him but he is not an idiot. DeSantis would not have gone after Disney if they just did the standard corporate dance about LGTBQIA2S+ and threw in some references to equity and stakeholder capitalism. Disney vowed to work towards repealing the Parental Rights in Education law, which has broad popular support among FL residents. If Disney wants to dabble in politics, well, DeSantis is showing them what that means.
Eggggsactly. Disney wants to get into the political arena then don't be surprised when their opponents fire back. If Disney wants to get into politics, it needs to do so in other countries where it does business too. There are no two faced half measures.
Completely agree. Disney even makes edits to their movies removing anything related to LBGQT so they can be shown in China. Such hypocrites
That “help” to the Legislators – in the form of political donations Disney regularly makes – is on hold, though. In a March 6 letter to employees, Chapek announced the Walt Disney Company would pause all political donations in Florida after the passage of the Parental Rights in Education Act.

Dr. Susan MacManus, a political analyst and University of South Florida Distinguished Professor Emerita of Political Science, said she finds the threat against the Reedy Creek Improvement District unusual because of all it would take to unravel it.
If the RCID were eliminated, control of the 40+ square miles owned by Walt Disney World would go back to the two counties it straddles – Osceola and Orange. They would have to provide the fire protection, emergency medical services, permitting services and other governance that Disney now does for itself.
And they would be doing it without more tax money.
The special district does not exempt Disney from paying property taxes,” Clark said. Disney is Central Florida’s largest taxpayer, paying nearly $300 million per year in property taxes to Orange and Osceola counties, as well as about $250 million in other state taxes.
So, if those counties had to assume many of the roles the Reedy Creek Improvement District now performs, they would be doing it without any real expanded income, save some potential permitting and other construction fees. The counties could create a special fire protection taxing district to re-coup some of the money needed to replace the 200-employee Reedy Creek Fire Department, which provides 911 emergency services, fire protection, and emergency medical services. But other services counties are expected to provide would fall back to both of the counties to fund, and that might lead to an increase in property taxes for local residents, Clark said.
