Sore on the corner of toddler's mouth. Anyone else?

My DD has a little sore, a sort of "crack" on one corner of her mouth. It doesn't look like a cold sore at all, it just looks like the skin tore a little and it's pretty red. Anybody knows where these come from? I'm not really worried about it, since she seems fine, her only complaint is that it burns when she eats (which sounds pretty normal considering the sore). I just want to know if anybody else's kid(s) have these things, what they are and how to make them go away faster. Thanks!

Sounds like the skin may have cracked from being dry. Some things to try: a humidifier, lip lotion, lots of fluids!

Strangely, our family have been suffering sore, tingly lips and mouth ulcers this week. I think it's part of the virus we've all had (just a head cold). My 2yo DS's lips look sore all over but he's only really complaining of a mouth ulcer. Mine feel like they need a lot of vaseline. None of us suffer cold sores so I think it's just part of the virus.

Mine used to crack like that all the time in the winter when I was young. It was just really dry skin, licking lips, no humidity, etc. Any way to get some lip balm on her and keep it there?

I used to get that all the time. Its a vitamin deficiency, E iirc.

Probably just from the cold air but it could also be a yeast infection - it's called cheilitis when it's on the mouth.
