Humperdoo poster, ILY. Ramy Youseff and Riz Ahmed - love those suggestions.

Can we resurrect (bah dum bum!) a long George Harrison, circa white album?

Rami Malek. At least he's ethnically closer to the actual Jesus.

Jesus wasn’t Egyptian. If you want to be ethnically correct, I’d go with Yehuda Levi. He even has the same first name…

Silly article. Dismisses the one image widely believed actually to represent Jesus’ appearance, but quotes allegory from Revelation as authoritative despite it conflicting (white hair) with the supposition that Jesus would’ve looked like modern-day Semites.

No one know what he looked like. That’s not accidental. And don’t forget, he had only one “earthly” parent.

? I'm sorry, what?

The quotes are not from Revelation; most of the description of the coming Christ is from the Old Testament.

Huh?

The article specifically states that it is referencing Rev. 1:14-15.

“For many scholars, Revelation 1:14-15 offers a clue that Jesus's skin was a darker hue and that his hair was woolly in texture. The hairs of his head, it says, "were white as white wool, white as snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined as in a furnace.”

White hair and red eyes = albino

Looks middle eastern? Not looks ... Jewish?

Sigh.

Do you understand that the modern Jewish population comes from all over the world, and therefore can be any ethnicity? My Jewish neighbor is tall, blond and blue-eyed. There are Jews from Ethiopia, Jews from Russia, Jews from literally everywhere. Do you also understand that when Jesus was alive, people weren't moving around so much, and the population in that region of the world was dark-skinned and brunette?

Not Asian brunette.
Not Latin America brunette.

***What we now call Middle Eastern***

There is wide range of Middle Eastern looks, so you can still have a wide range of options for your actor!

Makes you want to bang your head against the wall, sometimes.

Sigh, Jews from Russia and Jews from Iraq are all very closely genetically related according to modern DNA testing. Ethiopian Jews and Indian Jews are not related to the others, but pretty much besides that, regardless of where they are from, they’re all closely related.

People of the Levant looked much lighter before the Arab conquest, you know, when Jesus was alive. Makes you want to bang your head against the wall, sometimes.

He's just a typical white boy.

Good grief. He's a Jewish Israeli, you twit. He'd be perfect.

A Jewish Israeli is STILL just a typical WHITE BOY

Newsflash: Everyone in that whole area before Islamic conquest were typical white boys and girls. "White" appearance is not limited to Europe.

This is completely and totally incorrect. You are quite literally just making things up at this point. The Caananites (modern day Lebanese) have long been thought to have the same skin tone and facial features and modern day Lebanese. so no, they were not German style white. And a hop skip over in Egypt, N Egypt was inhabited by Nubians. They are clearly not white.

Egyptians painted themselves as dark olive colored with straight black hair in their hieroglyphics. As opposed to Nubians who were painted very dark brown/nearly black and Hebrews who their painted with light skin (peach colored) and curly hair and beards. Romans painted the Jews with light skin and beards in their catacombs. The Greeks didn’t describe the appearance of Jews at all beyond mentioning their beards.

Based on how they were portrayed by other contemporaneously, it’s fair to say the ancient Hebrews probably looked a lot like most ethnic Jews today. No is saying they looked German, but they were Mediterranean and White.

Yes, we all understand that. He's an actor, yes? He can play the part - or is he limited to only playing S Asian characters.
He would be great. Stop being racist.
