I think what most important in the leading character in this hypothetical movie, is the acting ability. They can add makeup for tanning and “aging” and face hair plants or a wig to get him looking authentic.
But I’m convinced OP started this thread as a troll to instigate conflict. Lol. |
This picture is from near 20 years ago. Ya'll have lost your minds: |
Jesus was 30 when he died |
Please God no. Chalamet is even more annoying than Brody (another bad choice). |
I'm the OP and I started this thread, because when I was a kid in the 80s, I watched the TV series Jesus of Nazareth staring Robert Powell and directed by Franco Zefferelli. And I cried my eyes out, I found it so moving and it kind of connected me to the Catholicism of my father, when going to church with him for all the years prior, never did. And I wondered, now, so many years later, who might inspire that kind of response in an audience today, and who could make me weep in the same way. So I asked the question "who would you cast as Jesus" |
+1 I was going to say Ryan Reynolds |
Jim Caviezel, again. |
Humperdoo!

hmm- except that there are middle eastern jews who are blond/strawberry blonde, same as Palestinians, Lebanese and Syrians, Arabs etc... In fact having light colored hair that is textured is the. most common hair type. In the holy Quran it say that Jesus had light hair and eyes. the image above is of a hindu- 1000s of miles east and south of Nazareth. Most current day Israelis never left the promised land if you include the Ben Gvir/bible definition which extends from the Euphrates in Iraq to the nile in Egypt. Also unlike the christian and muslim populations, they didnt intermarry with others so that is what Jesus would look like- they are rarely that indigenous looking with deep skin tones, are olive complexioned at best but they do have curly (textured as opposed to straight like asians) hair though. The ppl in those regions protected their skin from the sun and wore long flowing garments on their heads so there wasn't natural selection favoring individuals with more melanin. Back in ancient early islamic times all semitic men wore the head scarves with the leather bands and thobes s and had the curly locks on the sides. Muhammad (pbuh)specifically advised muslim Arabs that it was not necessary for them to wear their hair in that fashion b/c it was part of the old law given to the Bnai Israel. You cant really tell Arabs and jews apart or Persians either for that matter. The change in how they dress plus the ashkenazi with european gene pool is both to blame for the high Israeli rates of skin cancer, it doesnt only occur in the european refugee's descendants . There is reason that Arabs were classified as white immigrants, along with turks and it wasn't based on religion, plenty of muslim Arabs came through ellis island as well but they looked "white". I'd say Jesus had Titian hair- a "Jewfro" with lighter eyes and probably a hooked nose. the hook was considered a great mark of beauty , the deeper the curve and more close to touching the lip the better- it was a sign that you were truly abrahamic. |
Yes- he looks like Jesus but why would he play hime? he'd play him as a charlatan and cult leader! |
seriously- I doubt any of the prophets were ugly, they were probably attractive b/c it is one way to draw people you, they had to be charismatic to convince people and we know that G-d thought it was a plus point b/c it was Joseph's biggest gift- he was so hot that women started staring at him until they cut their fingers and bled and these were the courtiers and he had been dragged from an ancient - before teh pyramids ancient - prison and enslaved before that. Paul newman is dead but he'd also be a good Jesus and he's also jewish! ppl in the levant region are just as "white' as Italians and greeks. . lot of variation. |
I dont know about the 1st century but by the 5th, Yemenis were considered Black b/c the Companion Zaid was from Yemen and he was called a Black man and semitic ppl were more hung up on tribe than color. Persians were the jerks who started with the aryan (white) Black thing b/c of Zoroastrianism and conflating children of light with children of darkness as skin color. Ramy yussef is actually a good one! he'd be an excellent Jesus. |
Which is exactly what Jesus was. |
Yep. |
Huh? The article specifically states that it is referencing Rev. 1:14-15. “For many scholars, Revelation 1:14-15 offers a clue that Jesus's skin was a darker hue and that his hair was woolly in texture. The hairs of his head, it says, "were white as white wool, white as snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined as in a furnace.” |
