Now she's awkwardly braying about getting ready for spring as if she's some sort of season-shifting guru over a brief segment on daytime TV show that no one watches.

That was a painful watch. She's just not good at this.

She is not educated. People should stop pushing that narrative. She attended a bible college no one ever heard about, I’m not sure she graduated. Her writing is folksy and preachy. I just don’t get it.

She's not a bad writer, in my opinion. And has a bright, natural humorous voice when she wants to use it. That's her real talent.

When she tried to lecture or "teach" though it comes off like a loud clanging gong of no real insight or perspective. It's just the same stuff a million other people put out into the world.
Once it was conservative Christian voices she parroted now it's the deconstruction progressive crowd. She just loudly amplifies what's already out there. Sarah Bessey, Brene Brown, Rachel Held Evans, the Body Takes a Score person, whatever her "therapist" is piping into her head at the moment. She's not a deep thinker with anything interesting or surprising to say.

And now that she's a lifestyle guru it's all about monetizing promo codes and working grifty hustles 24/7.

If there was still someone in Jen’s life who truly loved her they’d gently pull
her aside and say Jen, you don’t need to do this 50th birthday cruise like this. You have real friends and family who love you. Just make it a private celebration with your nearest and dearest ride or dies. Just this once okay? No angles, no business plan. Just you and us.

I wonder if she will stay in the Buda house indefinitely? Remy will likely not attend a 4 yr university, so she'll probably stick around at least a few more years.
If she is shilling away, maybe she needs to consider downsizing?

Jen was at one point an engaging and kind of insightful Bible teacher. Like many here have said, she's now just one of a million voices repeating the same uninteresting crap.

Do you know where they served prior to ANC? i fell down this rabbit hole a year or so ago (maybe around when the separation was announced) and found it fascinating. A night or two ago, I found it again. I’d read that ANC left a bad taste in the mouths of some members who saw the cliques. I just didn’t know they came from a mega church.

I think she graduated bc I think she actually taught grade school when she was first married.

Jen went to Oklahoma Baptist Univ. A four-year school. I actually worked with a gal who went there, who was smart and funny.
Jen taught middle school for a few years before having Gavin, I think.

In Interrupted, she talks about the disparity of heading up a church in a well-to-do, maybe affluent area, preaching sacrifice and charity, while having little Sydney wear a $60 dress for one day on Easter. She was uncomfortable with the conspicuous consumption. Which feels so strange typing now. She at the time really inspired me to see how I, a Western, affluent Christian, could live a life that honored Christ. A life not of excess but of mindful, thoughtful consumption.
A simpler life could give her the peace she needs.
