Aren't her constituents generally supportive of fiscally conservative policy and paying less taxes to government? They should be loving such a plan that would reduce costs of the taxpayer.

Rezoning and busses cost MORE and will result in higher taxes that should go to teachers pay, not bussing kids past their existing schools to appease a small noisy group of parent unhappy with where they purchased a home.

The combined facilities cost of the next few HS expansions will approach $1 billion dollars as construction supplies and labor inflation stays high. Rezoning to balance overcrowding can help not only reduce but entirely eliminate the need for some of those expansions i.e., costs.

You pulled those numbers right out of your ass, but that’s what we can expect from the equity crowd as they try to sell their radical redistricting agenda as an exercise in cost savings.

It’s total BS, as illustrated by the fact that they keep plowing ahead with Karl Frisch’s boondoggle at Dunn Loring ES even though it’s clearly not needed.

I’m always extremely skeptical when libertarians team up with SJWs. Neither really cares about the actual education part of FCPS.

They are NOT rezoning?! Are they?

What a foolish move.

+1.

?? Rezoning will mean shorter bus routes and will save money. Forestviille going to Herndon is much shorter than going to Langley.

DP. Are you conceding they won’t grandfather kids at their existing schools with these boundaries changes? Because if they grandfather kids they’ll be running more bus routes through many neighborhoods for years and that will absolutely drive up transportation costs. And if they don’t they are basically going to ruin the school experience for a lot of kids.

Herndon does not ‘want’ Forestville.

You’d be wise to tell your SB representative that, since it is clear she’s going to try to jam you with them.

Want is in quotes because they don’t care one way or another. What they have issue with is people going apoplectic over the possibility of being re-zoned to Herndon.

DP. I honestly don't believe any Herndon parent is advocating for redistricting Forestville to Herndon. It's very clear that it's a McLean parent who keeps insisting this will happen. Very bizarre obsession with wanting to "stick it" to Great Falls. Note, the person who keeps bringing it up will never, ever tell you where her kids attend school.

You're the one who is lying by downplaying the costs. Falls Church is projected to total $173 million. Centreville is expected to be $290 million. Western HS site acquisition is anticipated to be $50 million. The next two HS renovations after that will approach a total of 1 billion. How on earth did I make that up?

GF people are so self-centered. It’s not about “sticking it to Great Falls.” It’s about evening out capacity.

What Western HS? Surely you aren’t naive enough to think that’s a real thing?

McLean

Then why do you care about Forestville kids going to Herndon (or not)? Your kids don’t go to either Langley or Herndon, so why are you opining about other people’s children?

McLean mom wants Forestville moved out of Langley so her kids can get moved to Langley and avoid the drop in quality at McLean once all the new low-income housing is built in Tysons.
