You guys know what’s the part no one cares to think about, it’s how the other driver admitted to seeing Usman coming then saw pedestrians and when the pedestrians were done he never cared to check again where that car is(shahid) and initiated the which caused shahid to try swerving him. That’s literally his words how he never checked again and I beg you to ask anyone who was at the courtroom 2 days ago when the other driver spoke. If the other driver checked and yielded no one would have died. He’s just at fault of the girls dying. Both their actions caused it and both of them should deal with the consequences.

Ultimately if are approaching an intersection you yield to traffic already in the intersection, even if you have a green light. If a car is blocking your lane of traffic for whatever reason common sense tells you not to go barreling through it at 81 mph.

Yes, if Shahid didn’t hit the 4Runner and then run up onto the sidewalk and killed 2 people no one would have died. But unfortunately Shahid did hit another car and killed 2 people. And now he’ll finally pay for his crimes.

If the 4 runner waited until it was clear to turn no one would have charges.

They both made significant errors and both played a role in the accident.

Your friend shouldn’t even have been driving at all without one of his parents.

Actually, he testified that he was stopped. If that is true, and defense never disproved this, then it doesn’t matter whether he saw the BMW or not. The 35 mph speed limit gives an oncoming car sufficient time to avoid an accident. The speed limit is the safety net on that road and it was grossly violated by convicted driver.

Shahid’s family and friends are out in full force tonight. But they can’t even keep their story straight: some are saying the 4 Runner driver saw Shahid approach in his BMW, while others are saying he didn’t look before turning. So which is it?

Did anyone ask BMW driver if he noticed the pedestrians in the crosswalk?

I am not in anyone side so I just don't understand of doing this again. I think it will be very painful and we just to forgive and move on and God Bless everyone. GOD, Aliah, Dios , Who you pray FOR IF you pray. is fine.
just forgive and put away the Civil trial. There no winners today, we are all hurt. and we can't relive this

The point of the civil trial is for the victims or in this case the victims' families. The criminal trial was for Shahid. The civil trial will be for the victims.

+1 and to pay the bills for the poor girl who is working still to pay off her medical bills along with the mother who had to take a second job. Meanwhile, your kid went off to college still is partying as if nothing happened.

having a second job, for paying bills should be a different story for a different day.

And it will be, it’ll be told during the civil trial.

Seriously who is writing these posts defending this guy?
A BMW 520 is not a starter car period!!!
The man drove 81 where the max was 35!
He was driving recklessly along with someone high on drugs in the car with him.
He mowed down two young girls and killed them! Injured another permanently.
He is a murderer.

I have never even seen someone driving 81 where max is 35!!

That’s a reckless driving ticket and he deserved to go to jail right then and there even if he hadn’t killed someone.
That’s reckless endangerment!

You mean to tell us a bus driver afforded a down payment for a BMW 520 for his 17 year old son?
Don’t be a liar please.
500 monthly payments+ gas+ insurance for a young person driving a LUXURY GERMAN car = at least 1200 dollars per month
You mean to tell me someone throwing that out for a car is poor?
Stop this nonsense

eckless driving in Virginia: 20 mph over the speed limit, or 80 mph regardless of the speed limit

Yes it does involve jail time and he does deserve jail time.

He did kill people. Instead of mourning lives lost, you are here defending him

Most vehicles have around 900hp of braking. Given his tiny 4 cylinder engine, it would have been faster to slow down.

You can find an expert to say anything.

The argument appears to be that you should expect new drivers to kill a few people while they learn to drive.

What other car would have hit the girls?

Not sure but the time would have been greatly reduced if he had done a plea deal. Probably by several years. It's usually a couple of months till they find space in a prison and then transfer people there.

Whatever fault the 4runner had it was going to next to impossible to prove that the 81 mph had less of an effect on the accident. The criminal argument was never whether anyone else had a role. It was always about whether he behaved recklessly. So the trial should have centered around how he behaved safely and still the accident happened. They should have known that negligence and risky behavior were not going to be easily disproven and not taken this to trial. They could have still argued the 4runner story in front of a judge for the plea deal.
