All I can say is Wow! No, I can also say WTF. DC government has RIFFED hundreds of employees under the premise of recession. Two months on the job and Fenty gives Rhee more than $47,000 as a bonus. A bonus for fracking what, damn, was she fucking him. What did she do in two months to deserve $47k plus. as a bonus He was already paying her $250,000 per annum for her chancelor job. She is already the highest paid school chancellor in this region, yet the least qualified. This is so disgusting. And god-father Nickles just blatantly LIES. He states that the bonuses were approved before the economy tanked. The economy has been tanking for the last three to four years. It simply collapsed in the last two years. God, I hate this city and will rejoice when we can sell without a loss and say na, na, na, na hey, hey, hey goodbye.

I was shocked by the Rhee $41,000 bonus when I read this in the Examiner but folks should know this is not breaking news, this was reported when she took the job, it was signing bonus on top of her $275,000 a year salary. (I think it's $275,000 but maybe it's $250,000.) It still stinks, this signing bonus and all the others that Rhee's staff got.

I don't find this particularly upsetting. At least, these people are actually working, unlike the many others who were on the DC payroll for years but not actually employed. Or how about the woman in the tax office who siphoned more than $50 million from the DC budget? Nope, not upset about this at all.

Fenty gave out a half million dollars worth of bonuses even after the Council banned such handouts.

Fenty has no regard for the law.

BTW, PP, suggesting the bonuses were okay because it was not as bad as embezzling is a strange way of justifying things. The embezzler is in jail for what it's worth.

I wasn't justifying the bonuses. My point is that $15 million is a drop in the bucket with regard to the amount of waste and fraud in this city.

Like her or not, to be fair it should be noted that Rhee has turned down her bonuses this year and last.
