Another Republican Deplorable Congressional Candidate

Harris, as the senior pastor of Charlotte's First Baptist Church, claimed Islam was "dangerous" and the work of Satan. He also said peace between Israel and the Palestinians could not be achieved until Muslims and Jews accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.

This guy is running at the GOP candidate for the US House of Representatives in North Carolina's 9th ?District. There is a line in the movie, "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" when "the Governor" is asked about the Middle East and he responds, "it behooves both the Jews and the Arabs to settle their differences in a Christian manner!". That was a humorous line in the movie, but it's no joke when a Congressional candidate actually believes it.

Harris also had this to say about Islam:

Harris said. "Listen to me, that is why the religion of Islam is so dangerous. It is the great counterfeit of our generation."
Harris went on to say that many elements of the Koran are identical to passages from the Bible, and warned against listening to political leaders who call Islam one of the great religions of the world.

"It is the great counterfeit. That's why we've got to be so careful of political leaders who somehow just like to speak of it as one of the great world religions. Ladies and gentlemen, it is not," he said. "In right here in Revelation 13, can't you see where we're moving? Because in Revelation 13 there is a counterfeit death and there is a counterfeit resurrection."

Current Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter is running ads calling his opponent a terrorist and suggesting he is a Muslim extremest despite the man being a Christian. It is contemptible that Republicans candidates are openly Islamophobic with no pushback from the party or Republican voters. Harris is apparently also an anti-Semite which should at least get him in a bit of trouble these days. Sadly though, probably not.

Sadly his bigotry will probably appeal to a lot of NC voters.

Hes up but I wouldn’t call it coasting. That campaign he’s running is FOUL, though.
