CNU is Christopher Newport University. We did NOT take the spot. Went with a medium-sized Jesuit school that offered an aid package similar to the price of CNU for us (in state).

Interesting. My DC was in the same situation and made the same choice (no to CNU, yes to medium-sized Jesuit with final bill comparable to in-state). They are very excited.

My DD got off the waitlist at Duke yesterday. She was really getting excited about the idea of attending UVA, so it's a tough decision. It's going to be tough to swing financially for us, so I'm thinking she'll decline.

Just assume your kid isn’t getting into the school they’re waitlisted at, then be pleasantly surprised if they get off one. Statistically, most schools don’t take that many off the waitlist vs. how many they put on.

No. The Duke WL has started moving a couple days before AMy first for 4 out of the last 5 yrs. So do Ivies some years--Brown last yr for example let in a few boarding school people around April 20

Duke is well worth it if you can swing it
