Is this YA? Or has the state of literature reached a point where something as on the nose as "make Wesley white again" is considered a credible plot point?

I hope this is YA. I expect YA to have this level of caricature and black-white thinking. It would be sad to see it continue bleeding into lit fic.

Prep is great. Curtis Sittenfeld did go to Groton but I do not think she taught at STA? She's from Ohio and I don't think she's ever lived in the DMV.

She was a writer in residence at STA and taught for a year while she was writing Prep. STA has a fellowship where a young writer/teacher lives in the dorm and teaches one class while having time to write.

I’m the poster whose wife saw an advanced copy. She didn’t go to Sidwell but someone she works with did and said the upper school principal in the book is based on a former principal and is portrayed positively but that a lot of parents are made to look really bad

I overlapped with Chelsea at Sidwell and they downplayed it as much as possible. There's plenty to dislike about Sidwell but I don't believe that their admissions spiel emphasizes Chelsea. Not a chance.
