Lol, the thread title should read "Novel based on Sidwell and DCUMAD coming out in summer," because that's what that is. Personally, I intend to read it and then post about it here on dcparentzone.com. Whether it's any good will likely depend quite a bit on how well Sasaki writes. The story does sound a little predictable but the perspective might not be. We shall see. |
Author is Emma Sasaki. Very very brief googling didn't turn up much except listings of this book, which is her first. I would not be surprised if it's a pen name. Her bio says she lives in the DC suburbs and attended "a Quaker private school." |
It’s been nearly 15 years since the last one so 🤷♀️ |
Duh. I meant who’s behind the nom de plume? |
It sounds great! It seems to be a critical analysis on school DEI virtue-signaling, not a “woke” book. |
I am looking forward to it. Funny how so many posters are taking a pass already, having read not one line of the book!
talk about prejudice |
LOL |
We can dream — but that’s not what I’m getting from either the marketing (e.g. Celeste Ng comparison) or the Goodreads advance reviews. Not a lot of room for heterodoxy in the chick-literary niche. |
Nice. |
Sounds immature and pathetic |
Did no one here read Prep, which was written by a Groton alum and former STA teacher? If this is even half as juicy, then I’ll enjoy it. |
Prep is great. Curtis Sittenfeld did go to Groton but I do not think she taught at STA? She's from Ohio and I don't think she's ever lived in the DMV. |
She was the writer-in-residence back in the early 2000s! She finished the novel while working there — I’d pay to see how the parents reacted. |
I just registered dcparentzone.com and will point it here. That should spur some conspiracy theories.
