Couples who sit on the same side of the booth in a restaurant

I just wanted to read it because I knew someone would say snuggles!

I was told restaurant staff make fun of non-boomer couples who do this. Is that true?

Clearly you are single.

This thread has encouraged me to not care. All the reasons people think "it's stupid" are either illogical or self-centered. So, no more f*cks given.

I also prefer to sit same side. Often booths are huge or tables are awkwardly long and narrow and I feel like I can barely hear my husband. And frankly, I don't want the people around us to be able hear our entire conversation. I also like his free hand on my leg (and no, not in a gross pda way or anything).

It is also a class signifier when couple sit on the same side.

Glad we revived a 12 year old thread to further discuss this

We sit on the same side sometimes when we’re trying to watch a game on the tv

How so?

I sit on the same side as my husband when possible because I am half deaf. Most restaurants are so loud. If we are out with other people, he can tell me what they are saying if I can’t hear.

I love it, it shows that DCUM has a long tradition of bitter people hating happiness, but also happy people enjoying life.

How about if it’s a small square table… do you sit across or “next” to each other?
