Yes for lower and lower middle class whites it's fear, uncertainty & doubt, the confluence of which produces a low grade but persistent anger. These are people who fear they've done over by circumstances, by the system, by "the government," by whomever. They reject current-day Democrat doctrine because they (correctly) associate it with elites and near-elites. That is, you have to already have what Radcliffe-educated Hillary is purporting to want to make possible for others (education that leads to upward mobility that leads to money) for her/their line to hold any sway. If you don't have those things (and don't know anyone who does) the bullshitter, the conman, the charlatan looks (and, more importantly, feels) like a better choice -- he's "angry," just like you are. Republicans who are notch or two or three up the socio-economic ladder make s similar decision, albeit with less acquired resentment along the way. For them, the equation is: I'm white, and I/"we" have something, and well... these Democrats are for, y'know, poor (black) people and "helping people" all that stuff... and, well, that's not me -- I'm a Republican, so.... With that in mind, the lower and lower-middle-class people's views make more sense, or are at least borne of some (although not much) thought -- in the same way that someone here (a Republican, fwiw) said the tradesmen who come to her house seem more intelligent than many/most college-educated types. |

This thread will end well.
OP - You may want to go through life with the attitude that others have positive intentions. It will serve you well. |
What a beautiful moderating force. Your beneficence is no doubt equal time, and you must have finger cramps from gently chiding R’s who use “libtard” freely. Thank you, sir or ma’am. Yours is the shining path. |
| Yes. They are scared of what is going to happen to them. Low on empathy. High on fear perception. Not very smart. Really aggressive. It is a terrible combination and explains how Trump could dupe them. But what can you do? Eventually they will die off. Unfortunately, many have reproduced and regression toward their mean is not pretty. |
| I think it paints a pretty bleak picture on both sides of the political divide. That's the point. Examining how/why we have a cancer like Trump in the Presidency. It's not that complicated: you can see why/how it happened. |
| It’s actually frustration at the inequal application of justice and the open borders |
NP. Is this a Hillary reference without saying “Hillary”? I trust you’re equally if not more concerned with the misapplication and inequitable application of Justice in communities of color? |
This. It is as simple as this. |
| Hillary didn't go to Radcliffe. |
But it’s not that simple, of course. Let’s assume Open Borders is the predominant issue for Trump voters. What fuels that, specifically? Economics ie people taking jobs? Culture ie feeling like the White Man is becoming a minority? Safety ie fear of crime secondary to immigration? Safety ie fear of terrorism secondary to immigration? “Law & Order” ie illegal immigrants are breaking the law? ———-> Fear and Anger fuel most of the above, as OP said. |
The frustration seems to be more at the equal application of justice. When you're used to privilege equality seems like oppression. |
Just to CTR, I'm that Republican, and I didn't say that the tradesmen seem more intelligent that most college-educated types. I said that having a college degree is no indication of intelligence, as liberals always seem to think, just as the lack of a college degree is an indication of lack of intelligence. I have the example that the tradesmen who come to my house all strike me as quite intelligent. |
Boy, you liberals are really focused aren't you
It's a reference to the inner corruption within the upper echelon of the FBI. I do know there is a lot going on under the hood and it's important to get a case that sticks. Which his why McCabe's firing is now 'old news' to liberals; when the truth came out in that IG report, they abandoned their talking points. I am very concerned about American citizens of all colors being swept under the carpet in favor of non-citizens. The government has no income of its own - it is fueled by tax dollars, which are finite. When you take from one group of people in favor of another, well, you can see how that can be a problem for the first group. |
See bolded. In addition, fear and anger are emotions, and I'm not surprised liberals focus and stop there, rather than getting down to the practical realities. It's simply lazy and easy to protest, boycott, etc., then it is to really parse through the problems and find real solutions. |
Of course you are going to race It's lazy and easy.
