Agreed. He's gross and I have no problem with him getting crucified in the court of public opinion. But to suggest that these women were victims of a crime and not just women with godawful judgment reflects poorly on women everywhere.

no, he was in a position of power and exploited it. He SHOULD be convicted.

Well my H is in law enforcement, and he gets calls where a teen and immigrants are required to give sexual favors to keep their job.

Weinstein is scum and almost certainly a rapist and I'm glad he went to jail but that was a bad case. From the testimony I recall, the only one who described actual forcible rape was Annabella Sciorra but I believe he wasn't convicted of that one. The others essentially testified to quid pro quo sexual harassment which also is terrible thing but probably should have been a civil sexual harassment case.

OMG, you need to do your research. A&E has made a great multi episode series depicting how horrible he was, they rerun it frequently, well worth watching. It's also been shown on Vice, who do a great job of airing horrible behavior by many who escape it while living.

From a legal perspective, you are correct and I agree with you (as much as I detest Weinstein, your analysis is sound).

Begin the merits of this case however, it has long been common-knowledge Hollywood operates largely on quid- pro-quo sexual harassment, particularly targeting younger actors.

“Me too” has not eliminated this illicit practice.

Question is:

- why are we, as a society, continuing to support Hollywood ?

It doesn’t seem like this was the strongest case to convict him on which is why they brought in all the prior bad acts which is pretty much never allowed in criminal cases because it’s so prejudicial. (Because of course jurors will think — once a rapist, always a rapist. Because there’s a lot of truth in that.). I think the NY prosecutors were maybe showboating a little and wanted the case of the century even if the better facts were out in California.
