Taylor Swift album Tortured Poets Department leaked early?

I think her saying "this album is about a moment in time, it's over, I'm done with it" is BS. I mean that in the kindest way. We've all said something like this, right? We've all claimed we've totally moved on from some messy, maybe somewhat embarrassing, time in our lives, and emerged as a new, more mature, less reactive person.

Most of the time, it's just bluster. I honestly think she could get back together with Matty or Joe at any point and I would not be surprised. This is a woman who trolled Joe Jonas 15 years after briefly dating him by quickly befriending his STBEW, lending her an apartment to live in during divorce proceedings, and being seen repeatedly with her in very public places appearing to be having the best time ever.

This is not a woman who leaves the past in the past. At all. Her relationship with Matty was dredged up from the past. Heck, I'm pretty sure the thing with Travis at least started as pure rebound, wanting to prove to both Matty and Joe [Alwyn] that she was totally over them and had found some guy who was their polar opposite and was having the best time ever.

I relate. I struggle to let go of things too! I don't go to these lengths to prove crap to them, but I'm older than Taylor and have fewer resources to do so -- maybe if I was a billionaire and still 34, I too would be shoving my current relationship in my exes faces while writing torrid songs about all my ex's worst (and best) qualities, while claiming I was totally over them even though I'm obviously not. She's human.

But no, she has not moved on. At all! She probably still thinks about what might have been with Conor Kennedy. She doth protest way too much.

Did Taylor ever release songs about a current boyfriend before this album?

Yeah I think you guys read way too much into her song writing.
They aren’t direct translation from her life. I think she grabs parts and pieces and repurposes moments.
Maybe it’s phrase from a past relationship, but used to convey a totally non related sentiment.
There is way more imaginative story telling than most of you are understanding.

This. Don’t know about Joe or the Kennedy kid, she is over those imo, but she has written dozens upon dozens of songs about Matty over the years, and I think he is her one true love and she is still not over him.
Took the miracle move on drug, the effects were only temporary.

Agree. I'm not a Swifty. I've never downloaded an album, and my main exposure to her is through radio play. However, I love this album. It's so much better than anything she's put out in the past (again, I say this based off of radio played songs).

+1. I have listened to But Daddy I Love Him, Fortnight, TTDP, Down Bad and Guilty As Sin non stop the past 4 days. At the gym, on my commute, while folding laundry…non stop.

I think I might be developing a crush on Matty Healy by extension of those lyrics, lol! And I am in my 50s Taylor sure knows how to write poetically about love and longing.
Her best work so far, imho.

Yes. She was with Joe Alwyn from Reputation to Midnights, and there were many songs about him and their relationship on each album.

Didn't she tell us in her own words in the intro. her mindset of the album? And telling someone to listen to a TS song and not try to pull it apart for clues would disappoint TS, wouldn't it?

Pull apart for what? To appreciate the artistry. To relate to certain emotions. Sure
To decoder ring her life onto her lyrics?
I don’t think so.
But sure, she’ll take the accolades and money. It’s the price she pays.
But she doesn’t have to unconditionally like it and she’s smart to reap the benefits, cause she can’t control the negatives.

Lover was about Karlie Kloss.

After a few listens, I’ve discovered I don’t love the additional Anthology songs. Some are ok, but all my favorites are on the first album. I am loving —
Fortnite
My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys (this one needs more love, so much fun to sing)
Down Bad
But Daddy I Love Him
Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me
The Alchemy

We don't know how long they saw each other. Only they know.

He also cowrote a bunch of those songs.

I couldn’t agree more! I think she’s been doing this for years.
