If it wasn’t for Jesus we wouldn’t be here today

That why we should say Merry Christmas

Huh?

Jesus wasn't born in December, or winter, for that matter.

Who cares? Irrelevant. He is our Lord and Savior. John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Quibbling about the timing of his actual birth is silly. It's not seeing the forest for the trees. We're just trying to save you from burning in eternal hell. You're welcome.

I am still having trouble connecting the dots between Jesus's birth and our being "here".

Can you draw the line for me?

pp here... I'm not the OP and don't understand that either. I'm just reminding you that Jesus died for your sins.

I don't understand this.

What about the thousands of other crucified people? They also suffered. Did they also die for my sins?

Heaven and hell don't exist. You're welcome!

Same can be said of a lot of people, including your parents.

In what version of Christianity is salvation related to the holiday greeting you use?

It certainly doesn't fit with Faith alone, and Christmas greetings aren't the 8th Catholic sacrament. LDS? SDA? Orthodox? I'm pretty sure it's none of those.

Happy New Year!

Just to clarify

John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16 does not say: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever doesn't believes in him shall perish and will not have eternal life."

So good for you for working on your salvation. That does not mean others will not find their own salvation in whatever way god has chosen to identify himself to them.

Hell would be preferable to eternity with OP and her ilk.

Sure it does. That's covered elsewhere in the Bible, anyway. See Revelation 21:8. "But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Which one are you?
