Good old workin’ the ref.

Poor Republicans. You guys keep finding out that reality has a liberal bias and it makes you so mad.

You clearly did not read his piece if this is your take away.

No, I read it alright. He’s working the refs and he doesn’t live in reality. For example, as another PP pointed out, the Trump campaign really did work with Russia. When the far right claimed “lab leak!” they did so without any evidence and from a place of not only racism, but a place that then vacated their agency to act responsibly in regards to preventing infection. Kind of like someone who sleeps around without protection and without getting tested.

And you’re so siloed that you don’t understand any of this because you don’t consume NPR, you consume OAN and Fox. Your only brush with NPR - which, BTW, has tilted as far right as every other allegedly “neutral” outlet - is this article and the podcast with Bari Weiss and the right wing’s obsessive hatred of public media. So forgive the rest of us for disagreeing with one nutjob right winger’s take.

Uri Berliner is NOT right wing. At all. You bet he is.

The whole Russian collusion story was a hoax started by the DNC and Hillary Clinton. That, my dear, is fact. No, my darling, it is not.

And, the claim of the lab leak was based on SCIENCE. The fact that no bats were within flying distance of the wet market was one piece of science. Then, there was the video of the lab worker that was censored by China. It wasn’t based on science, at least not at the time. You don’t seem to understand that wet markets bring in animals from a pretty wide area, that people actually do travel. It was an argument grounded solely in the GOP’s hatred of Asian people.
I cannot believe you are crying racism. That is rich.

As I said, you’re so siloed you don’t even know what you don’t know. As much as I think NPR is centrist-right wing trash, you’d be a thousand times better informed if you listened or read them.

Good grief. You talk about being "siloed" when that is EXACTLY what you are.
And, your statement above is simply laughable.

Don't bother meeting reality. You claim "reality has a liberal bias."
When that "reality" denies facts and evidence because they are inconvenient to the narrative and ignores stories that don't meet with the approval of the liberal audience, I guess you are right. The reality is groups like NPR are choosing a "reality" that is not grounded in truth.

Do you have cites for your claim? I have one based on some reporting from earlier today: NPR journos were instructed to report an HRC lie for every time Trump lied. When they were asked how to handle if one candidate didn't lie as much as the other, they were met with silence.

Now this is an actual good example of the uneven reporting that advantages Republicans over Democrats and sleazy Republicans have nothing to say about it.

DP. I'd just love to see a citation for the PP's claim. Still waiting.

9:09 gave you your citation with full quotes.

As I said: you guys are so mad that reality has a liberal bias.

Hmmm it got really quiet in here.

Meanwhile, today marks four years since Trump suggested getting disinfectant or powerful light into the body to cure Covid. Here’s how the “liberal media” reacted - by not even noticing, much less noting, how insane that suggestion is to make by the President on live television with millions of scared and desperate people watching. Including this famous tweet that the New York Times later deleted.

https://presswatchers.org/2020/04/washington-press-corps-covers-up-trumps-profound-stupidity/

The corporate owned media were and are willing to go to great lengths in order to help Trump and the GOP. They purposely do not cover the actual issues with essentially placing women into second class citizenship by erasing our bodily autonomy, for example. They barely cover the GOP’s assaults and planned assaults on democracy.

Right wing media is struggling more than regular sane person media
“This past February, readership of the 10 largest conservative websites was down 40 percent compared with the same month in 2020, according to The Righting, a newsletter that uses monthly data from Comscore—essentially the Nielsen ratings of the internet—to track right-wing media. (February is the most recent month with available Comscore data.) Some of the bigger names in the field have been pummeled the hardest: The Daily Caller lost 57 percent of its audience; Drudge Report, the granddaddy of conservative aggregation, was down 81 percent; and The Federalist, founded just over a decade ago, lost a staggering 91 percent. (The site’s CEO and co-founder, Sean Davis, called that figure “laughably inaccurate” in an email but offered no further explanation.) FoxNews.com, by far the most popular conservative-news site, has fared better, losing “only” 22 percent of traffic, which translates to 23 million fewer monthly site visitors compared with four years ago.

Among the big losers over the past year are The Washington Free Beacon, whose traffic was down 58 percent, and Gateway Pundit, down 62 percent. Compare that with prominent mainstream and liberal sites, which, although still well below their 2020 heights, have at least stanched the bleeding. Traffic to The Washington Post and The New York Times from February 2023 to February 2024 was essentially flat. Slate’s was up 14 percent.”

I can’t read Twitter threads, and Free Beacon isn’t a reliable source of news. You’re essentially reading an editorial and claiming that’s a news story.

Furthermore, a little googling reveals that Texas authorities did in fact block Border Patrol from fishing the hapless people out of the river, that Mexican border authorities had already called Border Patrol to alert them to the migrants crossing there.

The way Texas tells the story, they let Border Patrol in and wouldn’t ya just know it, the migrants had already drowned! Whoopsiedoodle! But no harm no foul, right?

Except:
“Well, as with everything, there's a dispute over the facts. But let's start with what's not in dispute. The state did, in fact, block the Border Patrol from accessing this area. It's part of an escalating standoff between Governor Greg Abbott and the Biden administration over who controls the border. Abbott essentially took control of the 47-acre Shelby Park on the Rio Grande, which is owned by the city of Eagle Pass. It's been a hot spot for migrant crossings, although lately the numbers have been down. As far as Texas' culpability in the drownings, that's the dispute. Last night, the Texas military department released a statement pointing out that the migrant woman and two children had already drowned by the time Border Patrol reached out to them about performing a rescue operation.

So we know that Border Patrol got a call from Mexican authorities warning them that a group of migrants was attempting to cross the river. Nighttime is always dangerous, and it's been particularly cold here. People can drown in just minutes. And the Border Patrol says it tried repeatedly to call Texas officials about the possible rescue. And when that didn't work, they drove to the shuttered park gates and were told by Texas National Guard soldiers at the gate that they couldn't let anyone in, including them, even in the case of an emergency like this. Mexican officials recovered the bodies of the woman and the two children on Friday night and rescued two others in the group who are suffering from hypothermia.” https://www.npr.org/2024/01/15/1224762805/did-texas-block-border-agents-from-rescuing-3-migrants-who-drowned-in-rio-grande

1. I'm not sure where you are getting the Free Beacon. Drew Holden does not work for them. He is independent and is known for compiling media reports.
2. Texas did NOT prevent a rescue as most of the MSM claimed......

WASHINGTON — Three migrants had already drowned while trying to cross the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass on Friday night when Texas National Guardsmen turned away U.S. Border Patrol agents seeking access to the river, the federal government said in a recent court filing.

The deaths – and disputed reports on the timeline of the drownings – have exacerbated tensions between Texas and the federal government over jurisdiction along a key stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The state last week fenced off Shelby Park in Eagle Pass and has prevented federal agents from monitoring the area and responding to emergencies along the river.

Clarifying the U.S. government’s timeline of events, Robert Danley, U.S. Customs and Border Protection lead field coordinator for the Del Rio area, wrote a statement attached to a Justice Department filing to the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday.

A representative of Mexico’s National Institute of Migration notified U.S. officials at 9 p.m. Friday that two migrants were in distress on the U.S. side of the river in the area near the Shelby Park boat ramp, Danley said in the statement.

The representative also reported that one woman and two children had drowned about an hour earlier in the same area, he said.

A Border Patrol supervisor went to Shelby Park’s entrance, where Texas National Guardsmen said they had been ordered to block federal access to the city park, even in emergencies, Danley said.

The next day, Mexican authorities confirmed a total of seven migrants in two groups had tried to cross the river. The first group included the three migrants who drowned. Their bodies were recovered by Mexican officials. Two other migrants in that first group were rescued by Mexico’s National Institute of Migration.

The second group of migrants consisted of two adult males and were the ones Border Patrol was trying to reach.

“As conveyed by the representative of Mexico’s National Institute for Migration, those two migrants were on the U.S. side of the river then attempted to return to Mexico when they were rescued by a Mexican government airboat and safely returned to Mexico where they were suffering from hypothermia,” Danley said.

“At the time that Border Patrol requested access, the drownings had occurred, Mexican Authorities were recovering the bodies, and Border Patrol expressed these facts to the TMD personnel on site,” the statement said.

The statement also said two migrants were apprehended by TMD, one of whom was transferred to emergency medical services due to “initial hypothermic conditions.”
