2017: Has marriage & 4-6 kids become the ultimate signal of real wealth?

Seems like it implies health, stability, no student debt, good careers, trusts & inheritance. Car leases, vacations and mortgages can all be a carefully curated mirage.

I think having 4-6 kids in urban private schools and taking international vacations indicates real wealth. 4-6 kids is pretty common in flyover country where I'm from, so it doesn't really indicate wealth. And not everyone who is wealthy actually wants 4-6 kids.

Italians haven't been having children for a long while now. The government has been trying to get them to procreate.

Looks like Dolce & Gabana are trying to make it look glamorous as wel.

Though, frankly, with that guy in his "wife-beater" tee and all of those kids it reminds me of an Irish family during the potato famine.

lol. Fwiw I have 3 kids now and there is no way I would want 5 or 6 total! Four would be my absolute max! I don't see how I could give 5-6 kids the level of individual attention I give my 3 kids now.

same. probably because they're all in their underwear.

Idk but there is nothing glam or aspiration about that photo for me.

Maybe if they were all dressed up at the theater, like at a performance for the Nutcracker or something? That could be sweet.

The environmental factor is so weird to me. Yes, more kids = more resources. But if liberals stop having kids because they're worried about the environment, people who do have 4-6 kids will outvote you and dismantle the EPA.

In my circle it's 3-4 kids, private school, a country club and a house at the beach or in the mountains and a SAHM.

I work at a low SES school and 4+ kids isn't that unusual. In my mind, it signifies poverty.

Nanny, au pair, tutors, housekeeper ... kids off to boarding school in grade 9. Hence, signal of wealth.

Yeah, to me it's driven by religion, not wealth.
