If your child is a junior, see if they can be recommended as the Rensselaer Medalist for their HS. That comes with a $25k per year scholarship to RPI. Otherwise, RPI's scholarships have decreased and will be expected to decrease as they increase the size of the incoming classes (planned expansion).

OP, you may want to look at the thread I started "does size of school matter if engineering" on the 2nd page, if you haven't seen it yet. We are also looking at engineering programs at smaller schools and started the thread a few days ago. There were some good advice on there.
