UVA Student Released from North Korea; Has Been in a Coma for a Year?

I guess he is arriving home today. What a bizarre twist. I hope he will be okay; living in a coma in North Korea for a year does not sound good.

What I've read sounds super fishy and terrible. That he contacted botulism last year and was put into a coma? How can you believe anything from North Korea? It sounds like he is very bad shape and the outlook is grime. What actually happened to him we may never know.

+100. Mexico may not be sending us their best and brightest. But we aren't sending North Korea ours. An American student screwing around in North Korea. Who could have predicted that would end badly? I hope this kid recovers and I'm glad he is headed back to his family and decent medical care. But come on. Obama was not out there promoting tourism in North Korea.

Relieved to hear. I'm from Cincy and I have lit a candle for this kid every day for the last year. I blame UVA for taking the kids to a communist country. Of course, boys will always do something stupid, and they should have known that. Hope kid goes to school in OH and not hick VA

Let's start with the concept of 'f*ing around in a forbidden area and taking down posters' and being pulled out of an airport and imprisoned for hard labor over it. Now let's discuss the idea that if he DID contract botulism, how did that taint the North Korean prison food supply? I'm sure it was an accident that the food was bad. Now let's add to that if it wasn't botulism, hard labor in a North Korean prison camp couldn't possibly lead to an accident, heatstroke, hypothermia, etc, right?

Obama, Hillary, left him there to rot. Trump isn't even 6 months into his administration, and the guy is released. And are working on the release of other Americans, as they did prior to this one.

Whatever. The point is not how he got there, but N. Korea's actions towards this student and the fact they probably killed him. I want to know why he was left there to literally die by the Obama administration.
