Quality of furniture at places like Value City, Bob's Discount Furniture, The Room Store, Ashley

Anyone bought furniture at any of these less-expensive stores who could comment on the quality? Specifically kids bedroom furniture or more generally is fine too. Thx

Bob's mattress stunk for weeks. Had to fight with them to return it.

I found a king size bed at Ashley that is wood and fabric it's tufted, very, very nice. I am floored by how well made it is and how easy it was to buy, have it delivered and installed. I looked EVERYWHERE for a bed with the right blend of material and wood. It does not rock or squeak, it is solid.

We bought our master bedroom set at VCF in 2000 and we are still using it. I wish it would fall apart so we could buy a new set but it's still holding strong.

I had a value city set for over 10 years with 2 dogs & 2 cats. It held up great but I did get the extra fabric protection.

^ adding that I bought it in 2002 and gave it away 10 years later.

I have sofas from Bobs. They are not the best made (they are not very heavy) but they look great and are holding up very well.

We just go to Bobs to let the kids eat their candy and ice cream and then get hyper on their sofas- I didn't know anyone actually bought anything from them?

we bought a dining table from Bob's 5 years ago that has held up well but the chairs all all broken in one way or another...never again.

We bought a sectional from Ashley's in 2008 that we are still getting use out of. It has broken in the center but my husband put a piece of plywood down. It's in the basement and our kids are 5 and 3, they jump and bounce all over it so there's no way I'm spending money to replace it for at least another year or two

I was about to buy a tv stand and dresser at Ashley and gave a second look at the tag and in small writing it said "assembly required"

To me Ashley and Bob's is basically IKEA furniture that is already assembled. Nothing wrong with that though.

We have a bunch of stuff from Value City (dining room set, leather couch) and it's is fantastic. The furniture was purchased in 2004, has moved with us twice and still looks pretty good.

In my experience, all the furniture I've bought from VCF is outstanding quality wise - way better than any pieces we've bought from other stores. I'm suffering from what this PP is, I wish our 12 year old leather sectional would fall apart so we could get a new one, lol!

Bob’s is the absolute worst. Brought a dining set and recliner sectional. Purchased last year about 9 months ago and I wish I could start over. I had a dining set, and sectional from VCF for about 10 years and a bedroom set I still have. VCF was great overall but the kids were rough on it. This post would be too long if I spoke about Bob’s. They are just beyond cheap. Looks good in the showroom. Someone said it’s the same as ikea that’s a hard no. I have an IKEA table I have had for at least 20 years in pretty much the same condition which is why it’s hard to get rid of. Sturdy not one chair has broken.

All cruddy style and/or quality. But depends on where you are in life and finances. I won’t buy ikea for myself and husband, but absolutely all over it for my kids. You can find great stuff on Facebook marketplace if you’re looking for higher quality items at the prices of those other options.
