Any update on the McKinley mess?

Has there been any decision made about what to do, given the math error in the number of incoming students?
Anonymous
Just covering ears and singing, "lalalalala".

If you have an incoming K and are in a border planning unit, I'd start pushing hard to get to transfer into your previous school. You can go to the SB members and get one of them to help petition for you.

Nope. They admit they screwed up. They have yet to agree to advertise ease of transferability to surrounding schools even if current policy is more stringent. Barbara flatly told a civic association meeting last week they would not be revising planning factors to provide relief in particular areas.

Head in the sand.

Losers. Barbara and Nancy gotta go.

I think we can work with Barbara, and we just voted Nancy back in... we basically said," heckuva job Brownie!" And " please don't build a fourth comprehensive high school. We don't want it."
Anonymous
And yet Barbara is quoted in local rag lamenting that everyone says they don't have a plan when they DO have a plan.

Doesn't she realize that WE DON'T TRUST THEIR "PLANS?"

Holy heck, what is happening? Did they wildly underestimate enrollment?
Anonymous
Can someone explain what has happened?
Anonymous
Yes, Barbara said that they are adding the exact number of seats Arl needs with the additions and the 1,300 new seats (which were all but announced to go to the ed center).

Barbara is not for a comprehensive school either. Is any Board member?

Yes. When they created projections, they didn't include kids from the planning units that were rezoned from Glebe & Nottingham. WRT Tuckahoe, that's a huge number of kids. So, The school is likely to have 800 kids next year (built for 684). Some people think that the former Tuckahoe units should get a choice to go back to Tuckahoe or join their one-street-over-neighbors and go to Nottingham (which, arguably, has plenty of room).

I'm convinced they are accepting bribes. They are so out of touch with APS parents.

I think Reid Goldstein, if not already supportive, could get there.

We need to elect Maura whatever her name. She is 100% for a 4th high school.
