I was on and off morphine for almost a year. Cancer surgeries and treatments. I hate it. It makes me jumpy and itchy and irritable and angry. And also foggy and confused. Opiods also cause severe constipation. It did help with pain. There is no chance of me ever getting hooked on opioids because I hate the way they make me feel. |
I was thinking the same thing--morphine will probably just knock you out. |
Mushrooms or acid - non-addictive and out of this world dream-like |
Because drugs can be wonderful and fun and humans have been enjoying them for millennia. |
I find this trend very interesting. There are those folks who say they felt euphoric on it and those who felt either ill or nothing. I think opiates effect everyone differently. I had morphine in the hospital a few times and will I guess it relieved my pain I never felt euphoric. I did get super itchy though and that was not fun.
I have also taken oxy a few times for pain. Again I never felt high or euphoric from it. helped with pain but that was it. Only took it for a few days and the bottle sat on my counter for months, no desire to every take it again. |
Back in my druggie party days I was generally up for anything, but even I drew the line at opiates. Ironic, given how much meth I snorted until I finally scared myself enough to quit. ![]() |
Mushrooms |
We’re not talking marijuana here. |
Who said we were? Do you think people get addicted to heroin because it was such an awful experience the first time they tried it? |
I had Propofol for a procedure. That nap sure was amazing, I must say. I could see how it would be addictive if you have access to it (like MJ). |
I had to check to make sure this wasn't an old thread and I had written this comment. Morphine totally agrees with me-I had no pain and felt just a little brighter and better than usual. I wouldn't take it recreationally-it will either make you feel like crap or it will make you feel amazing, and neither outcome is that good. |
My mom took very little of it, reluctantly, when she was dying of stomach cancer. I begged her to take it because of the pain, but she didn’t want to get addicted or lose her mind! She was already in hospice care with only eeeks to live. My mom until the end. She refused to say the word, thinking it dirty. She called it, M. |
I have a sister who is in recovery from Opioid addiction. For those that don’t understand why people like it, consider yourself lucky.
OP, do either you or your husband have addicts in your families? If so, stay away.... |
And it's a slippery slope if you are trying for fun. What if you are the type to get addicted? I think it's an asinine juvenile idea. |
I’ve had a few open abdominal surgeries and maybe head splitting vitals skewing migraines in which morphine was administered. I likenedtue feeling to being separated from my body. Light and floating over my bed. Not a fan but it did serve a purpose. I was only given it for no more than 24 hrs each time. By far the “best” experience was dilauded. Exactly as a previous poster described. Warm deliciousness coursing from out from my chest to my fingers and toes. Incredible. I have been given painkillers over the years that do nothing for me..other than dull pain... but dilauded was really nice. Only had it that one time but something about it made it very different to Percocet, Vicodin or even morphine. I don’t have an addictive personality, but that one shot gave me a window into why people go be one addicted! |
