Let me guess: you're one of those black women with the stick straight hair that looks like a helmet. Most of you look silly with straightened hair. The women in the OP look great.

Most black women look silly with straight hair? So any woman of any race who straightens her curly or wavy hair look silly, too, right?

PP here. I am sure you can read. I specified black women. AA features look better with natural AA hair and straightened AA hair does not look like straightened hair of other races. Chemically straightened AA hair often looks stiff, flat and just odd. The weaves look even worse. I don't know how anyone thinks that looks better than a nice face-framing fro.

Because some black women don't actually have a face-framing 'fro. I know it makes you feel better to think that all women of African descent have curly, kinky hair - but they don't.

Just like many women of other races don't have stick straight hair, either. But somehow only black women look silly with straitght hair? You have got to be kidding me.

But you aren't racist right? Just stating your truth. You (and people like you) are the reasons conversations like this have to happen.

PS - the weaves and wigs ARE awful.

Not necessarily. There are black hair forums where black women openly discuss their likes and dislikes of hair styles and hair care with dissenting opinions and it is not considered racist.

Some people actually want to be sensitive to and educated about black hair issues because their own relatives, friends or colleagues deal with it.

Actually, they do. When I see a white woman with fake blonde hair that doesn't work with her skin tone, pin straightened until it's limp, yes, I think she looks silly (NP).

Some of you are absolutely ridiculous. The below BLACK women have weaved straight hair and it's gorgeous.

Now of course I have chosen celebrities, who have stylists and such to help them make their weave look great. But I can fill this post up with loads of regular, around the way girls with perfect weaves as well.

No one is saying that the Afro's OP posted look bad, but c'mon people, I view hair as an accessory that I can change up every day if I want to.

Maybe I'm taking these comments all wrong but it's like you all want to put AA women in a box, for us to only be natural. BTW, afro's do not look good on every AA woman. And you'll do know that natural hair can be straightened without a relaxer.

You started off good and then you had to add that ending. Of course there are plenty of women out there who's weave/wigs looks bad, but really that last comment was not needed.

Nope. Please see below, all are weave. She's wearing it like an accessory. So stop with the weave hate as well. Just do you.

Sorry that bothers you, but if I can tell you are wearing a wig or weave, IMO, it IS awful - and it is not limited by race (which is what I was addressing). The young lady you posted is GORGEOUS!

This is unintentionally offensive. Not every AA person can grow an Afro, you know. Just like not all white people have straight hair and not all Latina woman have brown or black hair

Like with any hairstyle for any woman of any race, a weave or wig can look nice if one pays proper time and attention to it.

Fixed that for you! The posted absolutely meant to be offensive, since all AA women need to have afros for receive her stamp of her approval on their hair.

Amen to that!

Agree. Weaves and wigs require care and styling as seen in the pics of Lupita Nyong'o and the others. Celebrity wigs and weaves are very expensive and cost prohibitive for the average customer.

When Diana Ross first started the trend, I knew it would be embraced and affordable for celebrities. However, the cheaper knockoffs for the average customer aren't the same quality.

Funny. To me, the Xerox CEO's hairdo is plain horrible.

Really?OP came back several times to "make sure" any nay sayers weren't just "afraid to speak up". Sounds like OP was really hoping some would have the nerve to speak up.

Well, OP asked for opinions, and she got a lot of "it's professional". But she also wanted to hear why some might say it's not. Are you unaware how political a black woman's hair can be? Much more so than other women's hair.
