new Janney principal selected--from Stoddert

Anonymous
Frankly, until recently I had not known that Stoddert was a school. I thought it was just a DC parks & recreation center for soccer. The school seems to have a mixed reputation, more of a middle tier. Is this a sufficient background to be entrusted with the responsibility for Janney?

Everyone at Janney is on a first name basis with the principal. She's known as "Norah".

But if you go to the kids birthday parties where a wine bottle (or two or...) gets uncorked for the Janney Mommies, I guarantee that some of the stuff that is openly said and heard makes anonymous comments on DCUM seem tame by comparison.

Oh good lord! Perhaps I'm taking some fake bait here (which I always suspect when I read "frankly..."), but honestly get ahold of yourself!! Who oULD be good enough for your top tier students? Arne Duncan? No, not enough classroom experience. Obama himself? No, too distracted. Kaya Henderson? No, probably wouldn't be a good "fit" with the Janney community. An award-winning Principle from a top-tier school after a nation-wide search? I suspect that would satisfy you. But since it doesn't seem to have happened, maybe you can sleep at night knowing that Lutz is very likely to be that award-winning principal in the future. In the meantime, enjoy that she is excellent at what she does as an administrator AND can comfort an upset child faster than you can probably say "toe shoes." It will be fine!!!

Not true. The insiders trumpet their connection, but of the peons use a more formal title.

I'm not sure what to call her, so I just say "YO! How's my kid doin'?"

Mostly which teachers are crappy (relatively speaking, of course), which kids are socially on the outs, other gossip with an edge. Some is really mean mommy-girl stuff but the rest is pretty innocuous.

LOL! Do people really claim Janney is the best public ES on the East Coast! Seriously, thanks for the laughs. God, Janney parents sound insufferable.

Some people are impervious to sarcasm.

I think the truth is in the middle. I think there are many insufferable (real) Janney posts but I also think the majority of Janney parents are not evil and selfish.
