They explained what Barney's job was and did a flash forward of how it wrapped up. Please.

Never saw a single episode.
Worth watching on Netflix or something.
Or just skip it?

The first few seasons are great!

Here was the one thing I didn't get. Much of the episode was about how Robin had dropped out of their lives and no one ever saw her anymore. She showed up for Ted and the mom's wedding. Are we supposed to assume that from that moment on, she was back in the picture? The kids seemed to know her pretty well and said she came over for dinner a lot.

That was his job "PLEASE". Provide Legal Exculpation and Sign Everything. (I had to google that, you're welcome.) He signed all the legal forms for the company without reading them over.

No. When Robin saw Penny as a little girl, Ted recounted the story while Lily and Marshall waited with him for Barney's baby to be born. Ted called it "a Robin sighting". I don't think Robin was around much until later, after Tracy's death. Then she came over often and built relationships with the kids/rebuilt her relationship with Ted.

Btw, I don't think the point is that Ted pined for her during his marriage. Just that Robin came back into his life later, when her life had also changed (she was obviously not traveling as often at that point). They were both different people, and this time, after a long time as platonic friends, they were ready to make it work.

That was the best scene in the entire finale. Go Barney!

I always thought they would somehow make it work in the end - the fact that his story has always been about Robin. But it didn't work. The entire premise of the show became "Robin Robin Robin. Then I met your mom, had kids, got married, she died. Now back to Robin." Here's how it should have gone:

This past season should not have taken place over wedding weekend. It just feels like a waste since the wedding was not even very sentimental, the marriage didn't last, and Ted did not actually meet Tracy AT the wedding. Why did they return to the inn so often if that's not even where they met?

Barney and Robin should have spontaneously gotten married last season. Ted should have met Tracy in last year's season finale. This season should have taken place between 2014-2030. Most of the major events that took place last night could have had their own episode. So, we would have had episodes like...

Ted starts dating Tracy, and she gets to know the group.
Ted and Tracy get married
Tracy is pregnant
Lily and Marshal leave the apartment
Robin gets the new job, and they divorce
Barney becomes a dad
Tracy becomes terminally ill
Tracy dies and Ted mourns
Kids convince Ted to move on with Robin

There was no point in them waiting 7 years to get married, and then ending up with a rushed wedding anyway. Either let them have their big wedding and she gets pregnant later, or let them have their rushed wedding before baby is born.

When Tracy became terminally ill, they could have had a beautiful scene where she tells Ted that she wants him to move on with Robin when he is ready. She could have told him that she gets it since she also had 2 great loves in her life. This way there would have been a reason for her losing her fiance.

The kids could have been convincing him to finally take their mom's advice. They also could have been more sentimental about her. Saying something like "we love and miss mom, and nobody could ever replace her. But she wanted you to move on and to be happy." It was almost offensive how they were emotionless about their mother.

And finally, what was the point in using Bob Saget's voice?

Oh. My god.

I just realized it was Bob Saget's voice.

Robin looks like the Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif .

Ps you should have put spoilers in the subject line!

Sorry! Thought the word plus two hard returns would help.

No, not everyone reads these threads on a phone. Some of us read these threads on...wait for it...a computer! <gasp>

So, put your "spoiler" alert in the subject line!

Anonymous wrote:So am I the only person who loved the finale? I called the ending after the first or second season, so it wasn't a huge shock that the mother died and he ended up with Robin. I thought they did a great job of tying up a lot of loose ends. The only negative was the kids' reactions/acting at the end, but I can get over that.

I liked the ending, too! I hadn't watched the show for the last 2 seasons. They tied in all the hints about the mom well, and he also ended up with Robin. So, it worked out for me.

I watched the show off and on, more off than on for the second half. Can anybody explain the significance of the blue horn that Ted had when he went to Robin's apartment at the end?

Also, how did I miss the back story on the Mother? She had a fiance that died?
Anonymous
The blue horn was featured heavily in season 1. Ted stole it from Robin from a restaurant in the pilot.

Back story on the mother was earlier this season, in January, right before the break for the Olympics. *Really* good episode....

I think it's pretty realistic that after six years, the kids would be happy to see their dad married to someone they know and love. I lost my mom at 16 and when my dad fell in love with the woman who is now my stepmother about ten years later, we were all thrilled. (and she was my mom's best friend, so there was good history there.)
