You can read a paper newspaper with your morning cuppa, AND do step-aerobics (you Youtube, but maybe you can find an in-person class somewhere).

Young adult kids? At 44?

Dp;

I had 2 young adult kids at 44.

When I turned 45 had a 3 month old, 4 year old and a 7 year old. Pretty normal unless Amish or Mormon.

A 3 month old at 45 is not "pretty normal."

At my DD college graduation 5 people from one family in front of us were all filming the whole time with tablets We could not see around them and...the ceremony was posted on line the same day. Let the pros do it. Just enjoy the day.

Same with music concerts. They're a sea of blue cell phone screen lights. Do all these concertgoers think they'll create a better recording than the professionals.

People who upload these videos to social media are so clueless. No one wants to watch your shaky, amateur video.

That isn't what they are thinking at all. They aren't really recording the music or the band, they are recording the fact that they are there. Not the same thing at all. And they are probably doing it to post.

One hour max televised news in the evening, and newspaper in the am. It was so nice not to have a 24/7 news cycle.

I miss the pre-smartphone days of people actually focusing on life happening and living it for the sake of living it.

Why don't you do this now?
They don’t carry nearly as many hardback/paperback books and certain areas, like mystery, rarely have new books on the shelf. They are spending their money on audio and kindle type books instead. Plus, they aren’t buying those, they rent them. So, it’s hard to find books that are a few years old unless they are popular.

Not really, they don’t add very many new books to the stacks. More money is spent on online books rather than hardback or paperback books. Plus, they rent those so if you discover a new (to you) author you can’t always go back and read there earlier books.

I miss the pre-smartphone/Mapquest days of relying on a road atlas kept in the car to figure out driving directions, i.e., looking up a street in the index, finding said street within the grid square on the relevant page, mapping out your route, and occasionally getting lost and having to stop on the side of the road to rejigger.

You do not know what you are talking about. Montgomery County in particular has an amazing catalog. Sure, not every book is at every library, so if you are looking for something specific, you need to use inter-library loan. It's impossible to keep every earlier book. You can ABSOLUTELY go to the library and browse the stacks. Our libraries are very loved and utilized.

I miss 80's/early 90's appliances that were actually built to last. You could go to Sears and buy a vacuum or microwave and knew it would outlive you.
