Feeling guilty because I hate breastfeeding

Anonymous
OP, not much to add here except reading your post made me remember how much I hated breastfeeding the entire time I did it. I still find breast milk gross-- yes amazing but totally makes me gag seeing it. I found most lactation consultants way too intense for me. Our pediatrician office has a nurse who was a lactation specialist. She was the most helpful.

It does get easier. This is all new for both of you. I still remember it was the nurse helping me who said that formula isn't rat poison. I loved that and the freedom it gave me to do what worked for me and my babies.

Breastfeeding is a 9-10 effort at first and becomes a 1-2 effort after a month or so. Bottle feeding starts out at a 4-5 but stays there the whole time you do it.

There’s a reason people used to hire wet nurses. Breastfeeding is hard. I say absolutely do it because it benefits baby and you as well but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with supplementing with formula. The baby is hungry and as long as he gets any milk, he will be fine
