How do you define what being a vegetarian means? If you go out to a restaurant and want a soup, do you make sure it's vegetarian? Do you avoid barbecue sauce that is "house made" and may have Worcestershire sauce in it? Do you eat caesar salad? How about tomato sauce at an Italian restaurant?
Please, vegetarians and people who are familiar with a vegetarian's diet only.
I am a vegan and always check while ordering if my dish can be made without meat, eggs, fish sauce, butter/dairy etc. Some restaurants are accommodative and some aren't. Places like Panda Express don't have anything vegetarian.. their rice is also cooked in chicken broth. I don't go to such places. It is quite easily possible to be strictly vegan/vegetarian in the US since last 5 years or so. Many, many restaurants have vegan/vegetarian menus. I also leave my feedback at restaurants if they don't have vegetarian options so that they know there is demand.
Overall, I prefer to eat homemade food. It gives me peace knowing I am not harming animals even accidentally to fill my stomach.
