Please help me not feel guilty about selecting a repeat c-section instead of a VBAC.

And then someone like 15:00 comes along with a powerful and personal story. Then I remember why I still sort through all the junk.

Thank you, 15:00. I am the PP with the induced preemie and unplanned C for breech with #2. Your post isn't even relevant to a decision I may face in the future, but it touched me and will stay with me for a long time. Your grandmother sounds amazing, too, just like you.

agreed!!!!

I am one of those women who would have died in childbirth not too long ago, so thank goodness for modern medicine! My husband and I still marvel that he would have lost both of us without it - we are so incredibly lucky to be still together.

OP, don't feel guilty. I had a horrible vaginal then a great C. I had a friend trying for a vbac whose uterus ruptured. I see vbacs as very risky now.

I think the vaginal route was the best God could come up with. Now that we have a safe way that doesn't lead to tears, prolapse, uncontrolled bladders and a lifetime of kegels - I for one am grateful!

A healthy baby and a healthy mom are all that matter. How that happens is insignificant.

VBAC is dangerous. Period. My wise and wizened gynecologist recommended that I only try it if I wanted to have SEVERAL more children (as in, 5-6 C sections would not be good). Didn't work anyway, and had to have a C section again after trying VBAC. Healthy baby and mom are way better than any other alternative.

I'm so glad we have a DCUM poster who knows more than the ACOG and other medical bodies who have decided otherwise.

I know several women who almost died during their c-sections - so I throw those into the sample with the several ruptured uterii.

Just sayin'....

What in the hell is going on here??!! Are you kidding me with this? As mothers, we put so much pressure on ourselves, and seriously, this is what we've come to? GUILT on how the baby arrives here? I've heard it all now.

I agree too. I had three great, easy c-sections. (My first felt like a miracle given my high-risk pregnancy.) My peri laid out my options, I carefully considered them, and made my decision.

But more importantly I have three happy healthy amazing children! I'm not sure why people feel the need to lecture others on how they decide to give birth. Good luck OP!
