Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzeneggers house for sale

Why would anyone want to move out of that house?! It’s amazing. Although it doesn’t look particularly kid-friendly.

Why does this rich and attractive Christian couple trigger so many miserable people on DCUM?
They just don’t like this couple and I still don’t understand it. I like Chris, he’ll always be Andy from the hole on Parks & Rec; a goofy guy that often says the wrong things…I just can’t take anything he says seriously. She seem to have this image (fairy tale?) of the life she wants and is doing it with him…I’m neutral on her. They seem fairly harmless but really annoy people on DCUM for some odd reason.
Katherine seems fine. Nice kid from a good family. I definitely liked Chris Pratt a lot more when he was Andy from Parks and Rec, now that he got Marvel famous he comes across as a douche, especially regarding his son.

Agree with OP that he will 100% run for office at some point.
DP. From a good family? Good looking maybe but she has the same family situation as Strom Thurmond’s kids. I’m neutral on Katherine. I feel a little bit bad for her because Chris doesn’t seem like a good husband in that he only talks about her in relation to what she does for him. And he has a lot of baggage.

I liked him when he was on parks and rec. Then he got on steroids like all the other marvel men (minus Dr. Strange and RDJ) and turned into a big douche. The weird thing to me if this were a random person people knew that left their wife when they came into money and abandoned a series of pets no one would be like “OMG EVERYONE IS JEALOUS OF HIM”

I do! It’s from this mainly.

She’s just perfect for the current zeitgeist for some reason. It’s the perfect storm of Anna faris being likeable, Chris Pratt seeming like a twit and her having this hard to pin down ickiness. There’s something so gross about them and it’s hard to figure out what it is.

It's not them. It's you. It's called jealousy.

DP. I know you have an agenda, but I agree with PP. it’s not jealousy. It’s that she is self-important when really she has had everything handed to her on a silver platter. She writes about “topics she’s passionate about.” That could be a self help book about faith or a children’s book about sisterhood. Why is she an authority on any of those topics? Because she is a well connected child of two famous people, and has a publicist. The NYT profile on her only demonstrated what a joke she is. Anyone in her position with any humility or self-awareness wouldn’t embarrass themselves on that kind of platform. She’s like the Ivanka trump of undeclared politics. Wealthy and photoshopped, but devoid of substance.

This. Nailed it.

They epitomize PR, connections, and wanting attention. They are both uninteresting. Stop promoting yourselves!. I find him more annoying than her, though. He seems really dumb: low IQ, low EQ.

Are the splitting up? Did she sign a prenup or was he too dazzled by her name to insist upon it?

What you wrote makes you look very jealous, sorry. If reporters were begging to write about you and your opinions, you'd tell them your thoughts too. It's human nature.

Arnold has led an incredibly interesting life. You should learn about him.

Arnold does. Maria does. Not Chris Pratt.

Yeah I agree. Sure it'd be awesome to be wealthy - but I am truly not jealous of them. Like not even a little. I just find them weird and off-putting. I don't wish I had any part of their life except the financial security.

Sure. He has. But we’re talking about his daughter who appears to have about as much depth as a koi pond despite having a father who has led a “interesting” life.

This is the way, right? One generation has ideas and ambitions, and works hard for everything - and does everything. The next gen is just spoiled and entitled, and frankly boring. Sometimes the next gen breaks out on their own - Maya Hawke is just one I am thinking of; she's following in her parents' footsteps but is also hustling, I think - but, ya know. Often not.

I can't even watch him on P&R anymore - his evolution into smug jacked up religious smarmy dude who left his wife and their kid has really ruined it, for some reason.

I love that this adorable Christian mother makes all the shrews here seethe with bitter jealousy. Oh no, she lacks “depth,” and you have soooo much depth from your fake laptop job. LOL

I’m always amazed at these posters who pounce on others to defend people who don’t know and don’t care that they exist.

I couldn’t care less about this devout Christian mother. She’s not even a celebrity. She generates crazy threads and posts because she triggers a handful of shrews here. And we all know why.

Anonymous wrote:No comment on their marriage, but one reason celebrities do this is that it's profitable for them. They can buy a property, renovate it with a "name" designer, get it featured in AD or another outlet, and then sell it for a large profit. People like this also tend to own multiple homes and travel a lot, so I think they are less attached to specific houses than your average person. Real estate is considered a really sound investment for actors because it offers good return on investment for people at their level of wealth -- rich, but not obscenely so, with inconsistent income.

Should note here that Pratt paid 15.6m for it only 5 years ago, and now they are selling it for double that. Even with the extensive top-down renovation, they will likely net 7-10 million on it, a huge return on investment. You can't get that from the stock market.

Totally. But I can’t wrap my head around not getting attached to a beautiful custom home I not only built, but brought my children home to. Why not have a primary residence and buy/sell secondary properties? Are celebrities really so fickle that they want to build a new house every three years like leasing a car?

I get what you mean, I’ve wondered the exact same thing. Normal people would keep the house forever!

Have you ever renovated a house top to bottom, or built a custom home from scratch? My parents have done it multiple times and each time they are satisfied for a bit and then they want another project. My mom always talks about how when she's making choices on one house, there are things she has to say no to, and then they haunt her later. Like she'll design the kitchen and it will be great, but she'll still have this inspiration photo of a totally different style of kitchen tucked away somewhere, and she'll dream about designing a kitchen around that idea, too.

Basically it becomes a hobby and the joy is in the design and execution, less than living in it. Not for everyone, but I think for a lot of people who get into home design and renovation, this is the case.

I would like to know more about your parents and their lifestyle in a completely aspirational way. We are nearing the end of an 18 month long renovation and despite some mistakes and grumbling from the kids, DH and I are basically like “We all must love everything about it until we move or die. The End.”

Ha! PP here and your way is healthier, I think. I've watched my mom give house tours to friends and family of both newly renovated homes and new builds that seriously looked straight out of a magazine, while saying stuff like "I know it looks weird to have the island situated this way, it's not how I'd do it again if I had the choice, but you have to make so many compromises with this stuff." And I can tell people are rolling their eyes on the inside because these are not janky, half-assed renovations -- their houses always look gorgeous. She's just unbelievably picky and never satisfied.

They are in the process of house hunting again and claim they aren't going to renovate this one (they are in their mid- to late 70s) and want something that already suits their needs. But then I listen to them nitpick everything about every house they look at, and I'm quite certain they will be remodeling whatever they buy within 6 months.

I think it is the performative Christian thing that has something to do with the reaction. It seems both smug and insincere.

Maybe they are very nice in person. They just don't come across that way?

She has tried very hard to be a celebrity, and she is definitely monetizing her marriage to a big celebrity. She's also grown up in the spotlight, so she knows how to work a platform.

Glad you like her! It's working on someone!!

Nice try. You tease out how God-LESS you are with such a wicked statement like that about a Christian mother you don’t even know.
