Apparently a virtual unknown named Evan McMullin is going to announce the he is running for President today. He is supported by the #NeverTrump movement. All I know about him is that he is a former CIA officer, has an MBA from the Wharton School, worked at Goldman Sachs, and has been the chief policy director of the House Republican Conference.
His most recent tweet (5 days ago with 150 followers at the time): @realDonaldTrump Really? A baby knocks you off your game? No wonder Putin is already in your head. http://bcove.me/prrs6bjd https://twitter.com/Evan_McMullin/status/760584905843630082 |
How is he going to is he going to get on enough ballots?
isn't it too late now? |
It was announced this morning:

CNN predicts Utah has gone to Mrs. Clinton! |
If defeating Trump is the priority, wouldn't voting for Clinton be the solution? |
I commend this gentleman for finally standing up. However his chances are less than the proverbial snowball in Hades. |
Well this will splinter the Republican vote further I guess.
A good thing from my perspective. ![]() |
Unless it draws away indies and undecideds who may have gone for Clinton. |
Wondering if this might take Republican votes from Hillary...or are the ones who vote Hill more in the Defeat Trump than the Never Trump camp? |
If Republicans who would have voted for Hillary vote for McMullin, Hillary still wins.
McMullin won't even be on most ballots, so this is nonissue. Although, as I noted above, he could turn Utah blue, which would be freaking hilarious. |
He's running as a conservative - a more traditional (sane) Republican, so that seems unlikely. He may take away some traditional Republicans who would otherwise vote Clinton, but that too seems somewhat unlikely since the best way to stop Trump is to vote Clinton. |
Any vote for someone other than Trump inures to the benefit of Hillary. This move shows just how frightened mainstream conservatives are in terms of a possible Trump Presidency. |
Not sure "frightened" is the word except as it applies to his obvious irresponsibility when it comes to international relations. "Disgusted" seems more on point. |
What is his goal?
To be famous? (maybe for a moment) To be president? (not likely) To see Trump defeated? (seems like encouraging people to vote for HRC would be better) To help conservative voters who dislike Trump to feel better? I just don't understand. |
To take votes away from Trump. Some people refuse to vote for Hillary no matter what. So this may give someone a reason to go out and vote at the top of the ticket without destroying the bottom of the ticket for the GOP. |
