Not according to the NYT! This court is as leftist as the Warren court.

Yeah for the last two terms.
Overall, the court has had three solid decades of conservatism. Only a handful of issues (abortion, gay rights) have had liberal outcomes. |
| If a court evenly split between republican and democratic appointees is as left leaning as the warren court then we have a final verdict on what is morally and constitutionally correct. |
| Well, it's far, far more conservative on criminal law issues than the Warren Court was. It's also conservative on free speech issues, in the sense that it is skeptical of speech codes. Other than that, the Court is whatever Kennedy wants it to be. A man without guiding legal principles it seems. So one side wins some, the other side wins some. To conservatives, CJ Roberts was the ultimate sell out on healthcare. |
A statement that is beyond inane. |
Oh yeah? Ruth Bader Ginsburg concurs with Clarence Thomas 66% of the time. Sotomayor, Kagan, and Breyer concur with him over 70% of the time. So if the liberals of the court concur with Thomas on two out of three cases, and this is a liberal court, then liberal is the correct outcome. |

This all makes me sick.
I used to naively think the Supreme Court was the ultimate in being unbiased. I still believed it possible until the last couple of years. Both parties should be clamor ing for the highest court in the land to be FAR from political. |
The last COUPLE years?!? LOL! Try since Marshall! |
Where to begin. First, you are equating liberalism or conservatism with the Party affiliation of the nominating president. Second, most Court decisions are not controversial and there is no correct liberal or conservative outcome. Third, I'm just too tired to believe anyone would make such an "argument." I fear for our Nation. |
You misunderstand me completely. The notion that this is a liberal court is absurd. Thank you for showing that you agree. |
The nominees have been selected to effect changes that Congress has been to timid to do themselves. |
