What is Black Lives Matter's beef with Trump

Setting aside all the other issues with Trump - - why is he constantly hit with BLM protests? To my knowledge he hasn't made any hostile remarks about African Americans. I could be wrong, so please let me know if that's the case. Obviously, I get the concern from the Hispanic and Muslim communities.

BLM protests at Democratic events too. I am not aware of any specific derogatory statements made about AAs by Trump and I agree with you it's unlikely there are many. However, his supporters are another matter.

Trump was frequently critical of BLM before then even took much interest in him. He rather famously said that he would never let them take the mic from him the way that Sanders had and suggested that he would use force to prevent it. He then retweeted false crime statistics that were biased against blacks. To add insult to injury, the tweet originated with a white supremacist.

Moreover, Trump has a history where blacks are concerned. He violated fair housing laws by discriminating against black applicants for his rental properties. Many feel that his "birtherism" with regard to Obama was motivated by race (though his similar attack on Cruz might negate that a bit). Also, he has made questionable -- and not so questionable -- statements such as:

"Our great African American President hasn't exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore!"

And:

"African-American youth are at a point where they've just about never done more poorly, there's no spirit, there’s killings on an hourly basis virtually in places like Baltimore and Chicago and many other places."

He then went on to blame Obama for that. While there are far too many killings of and by black youth in many parts of the country, it is wrong to say that there is no spirit among black youth or that they have never done more poorly. Trump unfairly stereotypes a very heterogeneous community.

BLM has also being doing recent actions in support of undoc black immigrants, so it's not an issue of immigrants vs black people in the US, some people are both.
