Got to hand it to Trump ........

I am not a Trump supporter but the guy is just masterful when it comes to dealing with the media and getting the focus on him and away from the other candidates. Even his press conference and attacks on Cruz yesterday were more than likely to share the focus with GWB who was speaking in support of Jeb.

CNN will be holding town halls with all the Republican candidates over the next couple of days. Tomorrow when Trump is not on, he will be taking part in a separate town hall on MSNBC. I would guess that there will be more people watching Trump's event on MSNBC than the town hall being hosted by CNN in which Cruz, Rubio and Carson will be taking part.

Even those who are undecided are more likely to watch Trump's event shifting the attention away from the candidates at CNN's town hall.

CNN and MSNBC are both hosting dueling town halls this week on the same evenings.

CNN is hosting back-to-back Republican town halls, splitting the candidates into two groups over two nights. Dr. Ben Carson and Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio will appear in Greenville, South Carolina during Wednesday's prime-time broadcast. Gov. John Kasich, Donald Trump and former Gov. Jeb Bush will take the stage the following evening in Columbia, South Carolina. Both town halls will be moderated by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

But while Carson, Cruz and Rubio appear on CNN on Wednesday's broadcast, Trump will be on competitor MSNBC in a town hall moderated by "Morning Joe" hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski taking questions from South Carolina voters.

Not all publicity is really good publicity. He is laying a very poor foundation for beating the rest of the field. His antics appeal to a fraction of the GOP, which is in turn a fraction of America. In the long run, it will cost him.

I think if Trump wins the nomination, we will likely see a new version of Trump emerge.

Trump announced today that we cannot rule out that Scalia was murdered. How is this man so close to the most powerful seat in the world? Then again, Palin was that close too.

Why is it this man can say anything, and I mean ANYTHING, and get away with it. Can you envision for one minute President Obama calling Mitch McConnell a pussy? You think the Republicans would lose their minds and demand Obama be impeached?

Trump can say anything and get away with it because he's an alpha male. It's like asking why do women in their physical prime sleep with bad boys.

that is insane that the bush family didn't purchase that a long time ago - they've been in politics so long and its their family business that you would think they would've bought that url out back in the late 90s

Trump says some pretty outrageous things but he did not quite suggest foul play. Michael Savage, on his program said:

“Donald, I need to come back to the topic we’ve all been screaming about here, which is Scalia, was he murdered,” Savage said. “I know it’s pretty brutal to say that, and I’m not wanting to drag you into this, but this is going to be bigger and bigger and bigger.”

“I went on the air and said we need the equivalent of a Warren Commission, we need an immediate autopsy before the body is disposed of. What do you think of that?” Savage asked.

I think the more relevant point is as to why Trump and Sanders who are both running against the establishment seem to enjoy so much support in their respective parties.
Trump avoided giving a straight answer, saying he didn’t know enough. “Well I just heard today… you know I just landed and I’m hearing it’s a big topic.”

“But they say they found a pillow on his face, which is a pretty unusual place to find a pillow,” Trump said. “I can’t tell you– I can’t give you an answer.”

I think Trump's motivation was not to endorse Savage's conspiracy but leave open the possibility that something nefarious happened. He knows there are those in the Republican party who more than likely believe Savage and by leaving it open, he appeals to that constituency to the extent there are those who are undecided about voting for him.

The point about the pillow being found on his face was clarified by the owner of the ranch later though he was the one who first mentioned it.

Brilliant. Much fairer than Cruz's slimy lying robocalls claiming Carson was dropping out.

Not sure how he would be as president but he is definitely a genius when it comes to media.

Any of those candidates would be a media genius if they had as much media exposure as Trump has gotten.

But what you are missing is that Trump manipulates the media brilliantly to get the attention he wants - something that none of the other candidates would never be able to do. The media laps it up because it enhances ratings - as an example, the town hall meeting he is having tomorrow at the same time that CNN is having a town hall meeting with three of the candidates thereby reducing the viewership for the CNN program even as he gets the focus because his supporters and perhaps others would rather see him.

I am not a supporter of his but I am in awe of how brilliantly he gets tons of free publicity.
