I was unable to make it to the tour this week. I was wondering if there was any discussion on class size and strategies for moving forward.
Any insight is appreciated. I have a rising K and 3rd grader. |
| Well, if you're already a member of the school community, then you should know that they will be sending video excerpts of the State of the School speech, which address these and other issues. Or you can email the principal or post on the yahoo listserve. |
| Janney is a great school, but it is crowded. |
There are people not yet members of the school community who may also want to learn more about it. Like families considering buying a home in the area, maybe that is what the OP meant? |
or maybe she can post on DCUM and hope not to get rude answers like this. jeez |
+1. PP's response is one reason of many we would NEVER consider Janney. Bitchy, rude parents. Worst in DC. |
| Janney PP just doesn't want more families since it is so overcrowded... |
| Strong academics and wonderful facility but, yes, crowded and socially, a pretty cold, cliquish place. Aftercare does not have a warm, fun feeling. |
| What are the class size estimates for the coming year for K? |
We live IB and currently have our children enrolled in another school. We are planning on enrolling them in Janney for next year. I was unable to attend the Open House and thought maybe someone did and had information they would share. Thanks for being so welcoming to what we plan to be our new school. |
| 20-30 next year depending on how things shake out |
| Is that depending on the number of classes, i.e. if they get an additional teacher? Is that dependent on the DCPS budget? |
What?? JAC is one of the best parts of the school!!! Love my child's JAC teachers and love Mr. Librizzi. Now, what this program will do once he leaves... Also, I did not attend the state of the school. Did the principal have anything to say about class size? Not much she can do about it, short of building trailers or reduce PK4 classes. |
| 30 sounds like a lot! |
| I think Mr. Librizzi is polarizing--loved or disliked. I did not love and am not the only one. |
